I’m an infant adoptee who found my family on Ancestry.com AMA

r/

I was relinquished at birth & moved out of my adoptive families home at 17 & found my family years later with the help of Ancestry. I get a lot of questions about it so ask away.

At what age did you find out that you were not their biological son/daughter?

Why did you move out at 17?

Are you still in contact with your adoptive family?

Did you feel an instant connection with your biological parents/siblings?

Have you contacted your biological family yet? If so how did that go?

Would you please tell us about who you met from your family and what happened and what is your relationship to them now and what are they like?

Are you still in touch with your adoptive family?

Why did you want to find them?

    Did you meet them?

You call them mom and pop now?

I never looked for my birth folks. There was a good reason I was taken from them as a youngling. Was told they died in prison shortly after that.

Hey, I am a huge ancestry enthusiast. How old are you now, and how far have you gone with biological family (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc)? If you need someone to help with research and you’re comfortable telling names and dates, I will happily accept a direct message. If not, no biggie. I am just glad you found some of your blood.
