I (17M) have no clue what I want life, any advice?

r/

I (17M) always follow rules, never snuck out, never did anything fun, stress about studies till it affects my health. I always tell myself when the stress gets to me that my ending vision is going to be worth it. But, tbh I don’t even know what the vision is. My only thing I’m actually mentally set in is the fact I want to move to London when I grow up. My dream job, I thought it was environmental science. I have no fucking clue now, when I imagine myself in my dream job my head just goes empty. I don’t know if iam screwed 😭

Every job kind of sucks. You’ll learn that sooner or later. You can take a few years after high school working in restaurants or retail to figure out that you don’t want to do that forever, or you can make a plan now. I would recommend a polytechnic school and get an education with a firm job outcome. Think medical field, trades, niche programs that basically guarantee you a job. Environmental sciences gives you a framework for a job but when you leave school, you’re not actually trained to do anything. You could spend a decade trudging through forests collecting soil samples for minimum wage, but it’s not nearly as fun as it sounds and the market is saturated already. Also know that you don’t want to be doing self promotion, starting your own business or “hustling”. You just want a decent salary and hours. Then you can work that job for a few years, pay back your student loans, and start to figure out what it is that you actually want to do.

Take a gap year. Graduate from high school. Backpack europe. Look at WOOFing (volunteer work experience where you trade 25 hours a week for room and board and have the rest of the time to explore the region.

Make a bucket list of things you would love to do. The wilder the better.

When you see something that makes you think, “I wish I could do that” add it to your list.
