I once asked someone out by saying, “Hey, do you want to, like, go grab food sometime or something?” and then immediately followed it up with “Wait, no, that sounded weird.” They still said yes though, so I guess it worked?
I asked the cashier girl at the supermarket near my block with a note inside a chocolate I gave to her, as I didn’t had other options, would have been even weirder to ask her on spot, all the time people in line. Wasn’t that good that not long after I saw her with a guy on street, we said hi and smiled, we still smile funny at each other every time I go to the shop.
She was extremely shy so I sent her an sms, professing my fondness of her and reassuring her that’s it’s fine if she doesn’t feel the same way as we were in college together and would see each other all the time. Been together 15 years and married for almost 5 🙂
Back before cell phones were the norm, I went to college somewhere were its normal to still live with your parents until you graduate.
I call the lady, a classmate of mine, with whom I had a huge crush. Her mother answers, and tells me she is having diner, to call her back in like 30 minutes.
I call her back, and ask if she wants to go to the movies with me. Her answer was “I cant, I have to go out to diner with my parents”. Didnt hit me until after, but atleast it was a clear clear message of her interest!
I asked another woman out, a longtime friend, awkwardly, in front of some of our mutual friends… and they all laughed at us and informed us we had been dating for months.
I’m so awkward, I’ve literally never asked someone out. That seems unlikely to change, as I’m pretty sure my wife would object. Fortunately, she was slightly less awkward about it. Mind you, neither of us considered it a date when she asked, so maybe not.
I was on a bus from Germany to Poland. The driver was constantly looking at me and whenever we had a break stop he would come over to chat. Then at a gas station he asked me if I was hungry and if he could buy me some food. I was like…whaaat?? I politely refused but the intentions were clear. It was a bit cute and flattering. He was flirty af. Later on he asked me for my number. I just wasn’t interested.
Probably when I accidentally asked someone out while trying to ask them for directions. I got so flustered, I ended up saying, ‘So, uh, do you want to grab coffee sometime… or… do you know where the nearest Starbucks is?
I mistook him for someone else I was meeting and sat down. Realized my mistake almost immediately. My actual date was late, so he told me I could sit and wait with him. As my actual date arrived I gave him my number and asked wanna do this again but not by accident?
Nothing super awkward. I’m a girl (in my 30s) in my life I’ve asked out four people over the years … and they all said no 😅 so that’s the awkward part – me!
Oh man this is so bad. So im solo single father and habe said im not gonna date till shes out the house or close to it. So there is a cashier at my local grocery store. And I dont know what it is about this girl. But she just seems nice. So I had an event that was coming up and I decided to nut up and ask her. Well she was bagging that day. And I got into line and luckily she was in my lane. But by the time I ge done shes in another So I miss my chance. Nope. Instead I creepily wait and then ask her. To get “im so flattered but..: I white knuckles the car and walk away before shes done saying shes seeing someone. So brutal
Early 90s, coworker a I chatting and told her about my waterbed leaking. She asked me all kinds of questions and made fun of me.
I said well I can spend money fixing it or can buy her dinner. She accepted the dinner invite. We eventually got married and hated each other
she didn’t have a pen so she borrowed mine told her to return it later and wrote my number on a piece of paper, didn’t expect her to call later and that she wanted to return the pen.
We were at a club. She asked me to dance and I said, “No.”. Her response was, “Here I am, risking rejection to ask you to dance and you say No.” I explained that I was the working (I was the bouncer) but we got to talking. We had a great conversation and she was* cute…so I asked her if I could take her out some time. She said, “No.” my response was, “Here I am, risking rejection and you say No.” been married 38 years.

I ran into her car by accident and ask her to coffee, 48 years ago, and we’re still together.
Written on a slip of paper, which the teacher intercepted and read in front of the whole class. It was really embarrassing.

I wrote anonymous letters to my crush, signed it “from your secret admirer” and slipped them into his mail slot.

Told him I had a crush on him then legged it down the road. He ran after me to tell me he liked me too. I was 13 haha
I asked my wife to marry me while naked and said “so we doin this or what?”
