$200k but tell him to set aside $25k because apparently I got myself in a situation where I didn’t have $200 and when I did, I chose to gamble with it so I will be back.
I’d figure out how to split it 50/50 after taxes and fees etc. Winning that much money is pure luck and I wouldn’t feel good about keeping more than 50% if I knew it wouldn’t have been possible without my friend’s $200.
Depends on the friend. A close friend would get half, wouldn’t even think twice. Otherwise depending how close we are and stuff I’d consider less. But I also have had a lot of shitty friends before so my view is probably skewed lol.
One day when I was a kid I gave my dad a quarter to play the slot machines in the Las Vegas airport. He won $100. He gave me my quarter back. My mom chided him for being cheap. He gave me another quarter. He thought it was hilarious.
The accepted etiquette is that if someone stakes you, you give them back what they paid plus half the winnings. The best answer is to negotiate it beforehand.
I mean, straightup, I’d split it. Not even a question. But that’s me and that’s how my friends do. It’s all about being able to keep spreading the love. The winnings are decentralized 😉
Give back the $200 with $20 interest and tell them thanks for the loan and you broke even. Say nothing of the winnings. They find out about it? The winnings didn’t happen using that $200.
They happy they got $20 back on their investment. Win/win.
I’d give half, because we shared the luck! And they deserve some of the good fortune. Also the friend was chill to give $200. They could have given you $0.
I was in my 20s broke from student loans and a gallbladder surgery. I had to go to Vegas for work for 2 nights and I was not happy bc I had no money to spend.
My buddy gave me $100. He said to go play in the Venetian nightly poker tournament. That way I could play for the evening, get free drinks and enjoy. He said, “if you win you can pay me back, if not you’ll get me back some time.”
Well- I did. And, I won the tournament. 1st was $5500! I went to the bank the next day, put $5,000 in bank.
Next night I put $200 on a $10 craps game and went on a 45 min roll.
My best friend and I gamble together 2-3x a year. We always share any win over $1000, giving 10% to each other. We have traded many payout over the years, the two biggest were his 188k jackpot at El Cortez on a slot and my 160k win on a superfecta betting the derby.
So, related in principle…I’ve always bought and sold bikes. The pandemic was absolutely crazy for this. If you’re not aware, the pandemic caused both a supply shortage and massive boost in popularity for cycling, at the same time. Used bikes were getting crazy prices.
Long story short, a friend reached out to me asking if I wanted to buy his bike. So I bought it for $100, put some labour in to it, and it sold for far, far more than we both thought it would. It was old and crappy and I thought maybe I’d get $150. Ended up selling for $400 (there were literal bidding wars back then).
I went back to him and told him how much I made and I gave him some extra money so it was as if we split the profit. I think he was still kinda disappointed. But I feel like I settled the karmic debt by doing what I did.
Ummmm I split that shit. 200 bucks is no joke for my friends. I know this, and without it, id never have won the 262,000 dollars.
Honestly I did the easy part, pulled a damn lever a bunch of time, what did they do to get that 200? Busted their ass for 10 hours at a job they hate?
If I’m eating, my friends are too.
Actually had a buddy give me 20 bucks at a casino once, it was my first time going and I don’t like to gamble, he knows this so gave me money so I could have fun and not feel bad, ended up winning 50, I paid him back his 20 and took us both out to eat at the buffets they had there.
But serious note, you’re saying they GAVE me $200? Not lent me $200?
So they must be a very close friend. Id give them a chunk honestly. Idk how much but I’d def give them a slice. Maybe half. I wouldn’t have it if it wasn’t for their generosity.
50/50 split AFTER taxes come out of the overall amount. I wasn’t expecting that money anyway & they footed the bill for me to play. It’s the right thing to do.
I’d give a decent portion but not half, because I wouldn’t expect half if the roles were reversed. Probably closer to 75k. If my friend is upset rather than happy for me and grateful that I’m sharing a generous portion, then I won’t be too bothered if it ends the friendship.

Give back $20k
Suck him
Split it 50/50 and take a nice vacation together
Was it a loan or gift? If loan, I’d give them $400-$1,000
If it was a gift, I’d give them like $10-$40k.
Give them at least 2.2k back
Do they know I won? How good a friend are they?
Best friend or good friend, 50/50 split
Split it 50/50 with your friend. There is no other acceptable answer.
50/50 after taxes is the way to go. Congrats to both of you!
I’d give him 100k plus his 200$ back.
You split the winnings 50/50 and then give him back his $200.
I will give him 50% of winnings. Him giving the $200 enabled me to win $262K. It’s fair and it enhances friendship.
Probably give them 62k
$200k but tell him to set aside $25k because apparently I got myself in a situation where I didn’t have $200 and when I did, I chose to gamble with it so I will be back.
if a friend gave me $200 to gamble and i won $262,000, i’d split it 50/50 — it was their money, so it’s only fair.
I would make the terms clear before accepting the money and gambling with it.
gamble the 262,000 away so i dont have to make a hard decision
He funded it. He gets half.
I’d figure out how to split it 50/50 after taxes and fees etc. Winning that much money is pure luck and I wouldn’t feel good about keeping more than 50% if I knew it wouldn’t have been possible without my friend’s $200.
I’ll split. A friend that gave me money to gamble deserved half.
Never gamble again
Some good friends, and some bad friends on here. 50/50 is the only answer.
I’d give home half minus 200
Yo you hit your homie up good fam
If they stake me, I’m giving them back their original $200 stake and then splitting the winnings with them 50/50.
$131,100 for them
$130,900 for me
Give that boy money. Even if they dont lend me money, whenever we get hand pay some of the wealth gets spread
Don’t even need to think about it, 50/50.
Half plus the 200 back.
When we were datin̈g, my husband staked me. I won. I repaid the stake amount and gave him half the winnings.
Depends on the friend. A close friend would get half, wouldn’t even think twice. Otherwise depending how close we are and stuff I’d consider less. But I also have had a lot of shitty friends before so my view is probably skewed lol.
Split it with my boy.
10% return.
One day when I was a kid I gave my dad a quarter to play the slot machines in the Las Vegas airport. He won $100. He gave me my quarter back. My mom chided him for being cheap. He gave me another quarter. He thought it was hilarious.
Buy him $1000 worth of scratch offs…..
Give them $400
You guys are a bunch of cheap bastards. If he gave you $200 you 100% split the winnings.
Split it plus $200.
That’s a 131 k I wouldn’t have without them so that’s a huge win for me and them.
Give them half plus 200
After taxes split it 50-50, it’d only be fair.
Split the take. It is what it is. Gotta honor the friendship of person who would give you $200 just to have fun.
$26,200 10%
Life is more fun when you share
Work friend, $20k. Good friend, $50k. Best friend 50/50 split
Split it.. or loose the friend.

Y’all are liars.

They happy they got $20 back on their investment. Win/win.
Give back 200$
I’d give them half of the winnings + the $200 they gave me originally.
Pay the taxes on the winnings and then split the difference down the middle with said friend.
Pay the taxes, split it 50/50 with him, then go buy all the crap we ever wanted.
Give him half plus $200.
Deduct the full taxes due on the windfall and then split the remaining 50/50. Anything else would be dumb, dishonest or both.
I’d give half, because we shared the luck! And they deserve some of the good fortune. Also the friend was chill to give $200. They could have given you $0.
If it’s a real (best) friend. Split 50/50
Give them back their $200, then split it with them
Split it. You’ve still gained 131k, and now your friend has too
Giving them anything less than half feels wrong to me if I’m gambling with their money
I give them half. I’m a good friend.
I have a similar story, not as epic…
I was in my 20s broke from student loans and a gallbladder surgery. I had to go to Vegas for work for 2 nights and I was not happy bc I had no money to spend.
My buddy gave me $100. He said to go play in the Venetian nightly poker tournament. That way I could play for the evening, get free drinks and enjoy. He said, “if you win you can pay me back, if not you’ll get me back some time.”

I cashed out with $27,000.
I gave my buddy $5,000.
He did not want to take it but I made him!!!
You hit you split
Buy so much cheese.
You split the Winnings,, no question about this
Depends on the friend but I’d give half
Pay him back the $200 and call it even
You take $121k, I take $121k and we blow the remaining $20k on the most memorable goddamn trip ever.
Set aside some money for taxes and split the rest 50/50.
My best friend and I gamble together 2-3x a year. We always share any win over $1000, giving 10% to each other. We have traded many payout over the years, the two biggest were his 188k jackpot at El Cortez on a slot and my 160k win on a superfecta betting the derby.
Um we go spoil ourselves and I pay off her car or something idk
Yeah since the money was for gambling , after taxes I don’t mind giving half. Thats a good friend to give you money to gamble.
You split it with her evenly half for her half for you. That’s the only fair thing to do. It’s only money and you didn’t expect it anyway,
If this actually happened, I would split the winnings with him. All of my close friends are REAL friends. I’d want them to be winners too.
I spilt it 50/50

I’d split it with them
Look at him and say “Mcdonalds on the way home” with a casual thumbs up
It’s my friend, I’m splitting it
Had them the $200 back. After cash out I would likely hand them 50k.
Here’s $200 for you to gamble with
VS.
Here’s $200 to gamble for me
Offer to share. I did the work, he took the risk. I’d say no thanks if it were me who gave my friend the money, but I would accept a token.
Depends on how good with your friend and does your friend know you won that much.
I would pay the taxes on it and split what is left 50/50.
I mean, give them half and you are still $131K richer than you were 1 minute ago, easy decision honestly, don’t be a greedy cunt.
We go halfsies. Though, if I won it in stages, we’d have gone halfsies at stage 1.
Ummmm I split that shit. 200 bucks is no joke for my friends. I know this, and without it, id never have won the 262,000 dollars.

Shoot him 25k
Give em $200.

Half the net, taxes are eating a good chunk of that.
Investigate the tax implications for both of us and also how close a friend?
Half plus their $200 investment.
Only my close friends would give me that much to gamble lol, so they’re getting half of the share.
I’d give a decent portion but not half, because I wouldn’t expect half if the roles were reversed. Probably closer to 75k. If my friend is upset rather than happy for me and grateful that I’m sharing a generous portion, then I won’t be too bothered if it ends the friendship.
I’d go halves but tell him he’s not getting his $200 back
Gift $26K
