ELI5: Why is Mondrian used in the study of color constancy?

Some of Mondrian’s paintings show very flat colors that constantly remain the same general hue through changes in lighting.

Thus, the colors being constant in those painted works of Piet Mondrian helps demonstrate color constancy.

Mondrian showed great talent as a painter in maintaining such a solid wash of unvarying color, over and over.

The forms he painted isolated individual spaces in mostly quadrilateral shapes that he filled in with solid, vibrant patches of color, or white or black.

He did not only do solid washes, but his other works do not directly relate to color constancy.

His final work, Victory Boogie Woogie, probably meant to be unveiled if ever WWII ended, left unfinished at the time of his death, Feb 1, 1944, shows solid vibrant paint patches and some less well filled-in spaces and also uses collage swatches of solid color over other solid colors, creating an illusion of discontinuity.

The title, Victory Boogie Woogie, suggests he was trying to capture something of a visual sense of jazz.
