This morning humbled me Hard

r/

So this morning I was having my breakfast on my desk.
My desk is near the entrance of my house, 2 small kids came with shabby clothes (Obv beggars) I thought they were here for money so I rudely asked them to leave but they wouldn’t leave and then when I realised what they were saying my heart dropped.

They were just asking if I had any old clothes they could have, I asked my mom and unfortunately we had donated them a few weeks back and didn’t have anything to give them rn.

I said sorry we don’t have any right now.
And after that interaction I felt soooo bad as I was being a dick unnecessarily.

You never know what someone is going through. Compassion and understanding go a long way. You should be proud of yourself for catching the errors in your ways and turning the interaction around to try to help them. Maybe remember this story next time you find yourself in a similar situation. Just be safe about it and listen to your instincts—not everyone has good or pure intentions!
