Sometimes its the smallest choices like saying yes to an opportunity or reaching out to someone that end up leading to the biggest changes. Its crazy how life works like that.
Deciding to adopt a rescue dog. I just wanted some companionship, but I ended up gaining a best friend who’s helped me through some dark times. Sure changed my life for the better, never underestimate the power of a wagging tail
Realize that I have to enjoy this moment in my life. The grass isn’t always greener especially as you fantasize about the what ifs, what could’ve been, or what will be in life.
Deciding to start journaling every morning. It seemed insignificant, but over time it helped me understand myself better, make clearer choices, and completely shift the direction of my life.
Walked into the front doors of a museum instead of the side door. Turns out it was a whole different museum. The guy working the desk was cute. He’s my husband now.
I decided to go to a party I almost skipped because I was tired. Met someone there who ended up changing the entire direction of my life. One random “sure, why not” turned into years of friendship, growth, and opportunities I never saw coming.
I downloaded tinder one summer night in 2014. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I hadn’t matched with my now husband that night. It changed everything and now we have a lovely daughter.
Vasectomy. Both not wanting children, fairly small (though for life decision) but wife can now relax with stopping with all those anti conception medications which fucked with her body pretty good.
I was running late to a group job interview when I was in my early 20s, I couldn’t find the right room and was panicking. I actually turned around to leave before I started crying when a lady stopped me and asked if I was there to interview for (Company). I almost said no just to get out of there, but I said yes, and she kindly showed me where I needed to go. There were about 25-30 people interviewing and I felt so intimidated and under qualified.
But I ended up getting the job! I only worked there for 3 years but I met some of my best friends there. I lived with a group of them for a while, and a decade later 3 coworkers were part of my bridal party. I also gained so much confidence working there, it was absolutely a turning point for me as I used to be incredibly anxious and shy. I often wonder how my life would have turned out without that job.
Also, saying yes to taking on an adult cat for a friend that was moving overseas. He’s been the only happiness in my days lately and kept me alive in my darkest hours
Probably having kids. Have lived the “single life” for a good part of my 40 ish years. I’m in the early stages of the journey of having kids so its hard to say if its going to be life changing. My experience so far has been like nothing else I have expirienced before, so its probably somthing that will change my entire life the most.
Quit porn. I was really addicted to it. One of the hardest things I have done, with the help of my boyfriend, we were able to do it. 2 years clean now!!
Decided education was not the major for me and changed my major to a random pick my first week of college. Ended up meeting my husband because of that, and also ended up with a bunch of cool experiences as well.
I decided to put my ice cream back in the freezer after only taking a single bite of it…. So I could go meet a girl for a drink for the first time. We’ve been together a few months now and it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever had in my life.
Quitting alcohol (especially binge drinking on the weekends) – saves tons of money and you are enjoying life in a better, healthier and more focused way!
Summer before my senior year of college I decided to add another job to my plate as my course load was lighter than the previous years. I applied a few places including one store where I had previously worked. I didn’t hear back from them and took another job but right before I started the other job the store called me and offered and interview. The manager had changed since I worked there before and was cautious of rehires because of bad experiences. Well he hired me, I took that job and a year later I was moving in with that manager. Two years later I was marrying him. 12 years later we are still happily married with one wonderful and brilliant daughter!
I switched roles internally at my large-corp job purely for job title clout – I knew I was going to grad school and wanted some resume padding. Accidentally switched into an industry which is both niche and very hot right now.
Got in this industry by accident but several years later, can land interviews at the pretty much all of the most famous tech firms in the world without much effort. Whether or not I pass the interviews is a different question.
Instead of learning economics in university, i decided to also minor in math.
Having a math minor was the distinguishing factor later when searching for jobs and got me a very unique position that ended up completely changing my career and life
“maybe I will start dateing this guy, even if he’s too good for me, won’t last long anyway” 3 years and alot of healing later, its safe to say that he probably saved my life.
Choosing to catch a different bus to college on my first day there. I caught a different bus and got to college a lil late, because of that, I was put into a different classroom full of latecomers. It was there that I met my girlfriend.
I decided not to scold my 6 year old niece when she tripped me while carrying my 2 year old son.
One minute later, she did it again. Tore my ACL, MCL, 2 ankle ligaments, surgery, 5 months no driving, 6 months of wheelchair and crutches, just now walking again, but not gracefully.
Went to a house party where I got accidentally spiked (with speed), I was buzzing as you’d expect and wanted to go out dancing. While in line for the club I bumped into a girl I had went to school with, we reconnected and eventually started dating – this was 12yrs ago and now we’re married with a kid, I’ve got a decent job and we bought a house.
My life beforehand was in the shit as I had lost everything, my home/job/friends when my ex dumped me.
My friends wanted to talk to a group of guys buying tickets for laser tag. I was thirsty and really just wanted a soda and was going to go get one while they did whatever it was they wanted to do. But I decided last minute to go with them. No reason, just figured I could grab my soda after.
Anyway, my friend pushed me into their group as a way to cause an introduction (we were all 14-17). It was a hard push and I fell, and one of the guys caught me before I hit the floor. 24 years later, I can’t imagine life if I had chosen to get a soda instead.
The world just keeps burning, might as well burn in peace. Ive gotten so much work done just taking a second, having another cup of coffee or going for a 5 min walk outside instead of just blasting through 30+ tasks and stressing out. I either do the same amount of work with ease or more done plus i get me time
I decided to overload my first semester in college with 4 extra credits. The following semesters and breaks I kept maxing out the credits, eliminating 3 semesters completely. Saving me over 50k. My student loans were paid off in 5 years after I graduated.
It put me in a position to meet my husband, as I was too young to work in my field, so I needed a job until I was a bit older. He had an internship there.
Now we are living abroad and have started a family. All because during class sign ups, I felt I could handle one more class.
Trying and finding new skills/hobbies and filling my time with different activities everyday! Eventually you find what you enjoy and that gave me a new thrill of life you wouldn’t even imagine!
I clicked on a Gmail advertisement for a university at the age of 22; the kind of ad that only flickers on your email for a few seconds. Long story short; I ended up working for that university for 12 years.

No longer trying to control things which I have absolutely no control over.
Quitting alcohol and nicotine. It’s been a little over a month and I feel amazing
