A few days ago, I bought one of those light-socket light/fans for my porch. Included in the box was a short extension to push the fan further from the ceiling for proper air flow. I can’t use it in my installation scenario due to the low ceiling height so as with lots of stuff, I dump the leftover parts on my desk. My job has been full-time remote since 2020 and we now do all meetings with camera-on. I’m a fidgeter, yes I have a fidget spinner, but I will also pick up any of the random stuff I have on my desk and play with it. When we were in-office, I had a dry erase marker that I used a velcro cable-wrap to weight it and get the spin just right when I tossed it.
This is what the socket extension looks like: https://imgur.com/a/3YZo6c1 Now, up-close, you wouldn’t think anything about it. But from a distance, on the small Zoom window, with the lower-resolution…it doesn’t exactly look work appropriate. I was fidgeting with it this morning before the sudden realization hit me. I don’t think I ever had it in good view of the camera, no one said anything, I doubt anyone will, but if it wandered into view…I can only imagine what my coworkers might think.
TL;DR: I was fidgeting with a legitimate piece of leftover hardware on a work meeting, but the hardware could look very much NSFW from a distance.

Lol kinda had one of these early in WFH.
My dog wanders in now and then and sticks his head in my lap for pets.
My lap is not visible on camera.
My arm, clearly pointed towards my lap and now moving back and forth vigorously as I scratch his ears and neck, is quite visible.
Mmhmm. Sure.
