Y’all what’s the difference between being nice and being sensitive?

r/

Like I always try to treat people nicely, I don’t want to accuse any negative energy to anyone or accuse an awkward atmosphere. But at some point I feel lost between being nice and being sensitive to everything I want to say… I am just struggling in being nice and casual at the same time

Maybe don’t worry about what you say. Often, people will call you out on offensive language at the time.

“My mom died a few years ago.” (being nice:) “Sorry to hear that, hope all is well for you.”

“My mom died a few years ago.” (being sensitive:) “Oh my God! Let me cook your favorite meal the way your mom did.”

    See the difference?

Niceness is being attuned to other people’s feelings. Being sensitive is being all about your own feelings.

You can be nice and be yourself. Don’t worry so much about what other folks think. It’s none of your business. You can say what you mean without being mean. Folks tend to project their feelings sometimes.
Being sensitive to others feelings is a good trait to have, but don’t forget about your own needs. Sensitivity should be shown to you also.
