so when I was in California and when I was 17 I was arrested on a juvenile felony PC 422 for criminal threats I was put on a deferred entry judgment as a juvenile for the felony which avoids A conviction if i completed probation which I did. Do I have a shot at getting into law enforcement in California or in Florida since it’s not considered a conviction?
I know a guilty plea to a felony under the DEJ program won’t automatically disqualify you I think but that’s in California, I currently reside in Florida and I know it’s a bit rougher out here

You may be able to get hired by the Florida Department of Corrections but I wouldn’t count on being a competitive candidate elsewhere. You may meet minimum hiring requirements if you weren’t convicted of a felony but you will probably won’t rank on a competitive list with your background. It also depends on the charge itself because you may not meet “moral character” requirements for CO/PO/LEO certifications in Florida.
A felony? Really? At age 17? Fuck’s sake, I was off in a college dormitory at age 17.
What did you do? Tell it all, and tell it true.
edit: if you think Florida is rougher than California… boy, you’ve got a BIG fuckin reality check incoming. This is the Wild West. What did you do?
I got accepted to multiple departments and hired by the one I wanted to go with and I had 3 felony deferments. It’s possible, just be honest with what happened and don’t try to hide it. If you can show growth and own it you’re more likely to be accepted as long as you’re a strong candidate in other areas as well. People fuck up, especially juveniles
