Peanut oil is the best for fired food and especially French fries. Peanut oil does not leave any flavors behind unlike corn oil which leaves a sweetness behind and tallow which makes everything smoky and leaves a waxy film in your mouth.

Except a lot of people are allergic to peanuts so its not ideal to use as a standard. Tallow is great, especially for fries, gives a nice golden crisp and a richer flavor. They stopped using tallow decades ago though.
My friend has a peanut allergy so I’ll pass
Yeh it’s fantastic. But expensive so hard to use all the time for deep frying.
I’ll have to try something fried in peanut oil. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything fried in it before.
tallow is top tier although it is rare to find businesses who use it nowadays
I’ll give peanut oil a try though
The brand Mike Sells, potato chips used to use peanut oil in their chips and they were really good but then once they switched it didn’t taste any different than the others and I quit buying them and then they ended up selling out to another company anyway.
I’m going to disagree but only because peanut oil would kill me lol.
Nah olive oil is and will be superior to everything for home cooking.
I agree for restaurants is not the best fit as you need to be permanently cooking with it, but at home? Olive oil everyday
With all of the peanut allergy people, one very severe in my family included, peanut oil is a nightmare: Everywhere we go w ask if peanut oil is used. It’s so scary! Five Guys uses it so we stay away from that place. If there is anywhere else that uses it, I would love to know so I never go there
why not sunflower oil?
nuh uh its 10w30
Except that peanut oil it prohibitory expensive, makes anything fried in it inedible to those that have a peanut allergy, and does actually flavour the food.
No one disagrees with you super popular opinion
What about the perfect ratio of corn oil, peanut oil, and tallow?
“Peanut oil does not leave any flavors behind”
Look, I enjoy peanut oil, but this is just plain untrue.
Peanut oil has a *very* noticeable flavor.
What about canola oil? Standard Oil for frying where i live.
This seems like a pretty popular opinion to me. Peanut oil is widely regarded as one of if not the best oils to fry in. The problem is that it’s very expensive and in a restaurant you’d be alienating customers that have peanut allergies (which is apparently quite a lot these days).
Avocado oil has a higher smoke point.
