Why aren’t bidets more common?

i never really paid much attention to them until i went to a friend’s house and found one, i asked about it he said “if you stained your hand with poop would you clean it with tissues or water?” this sentence alone convinced me to install one and from what I’ve seen it was actually cheaper on the longer term compared to toilet paper
