They can be fun for fandoms of things that don’t produce a lot of new material. For example, Pink Floyd haven’t put out much music over the last decade. So, there end up being a lot of people ranking the albums on a tier list, or debating which album is the most underrated. A “wrong answers only” post can break up the monotony.
As others have said, it’s literally just for fun and to see what the funniest answers are. Kind of like those “someone unfamiliar with [fandom] tell me what’s going on in this picture” memes/games.
I guess it is supposed to be like a game where you write a funny caption to go with an image. I personally never participate in those, just because the phrase, “wrong answers only,” annoys me.
