ive deleted all social media bcs i was wasting too much time on it, but sometimes i scroll reddit as ive been told its the best social media. One of things i miss the most about other social medias is being able to comment or write something without everyone immediatley acting like i kicked their fkn dog or somethng… like i swear twitter is hailed as the worst and you cant say anything or ppl will b mad !!!! but i never really experienced that on twitter or tt or bluesky but literally say anything on here… why is everyone so bitter and rude
Comments
Because people are rightful in their opinions and think they come first beyond anyone else’s and anyone who disagrees must be stupid. Half these people can’t take a joke either. Don’t worry too much about it
Get off my LAN…
What the hell are you talking about? LOL JK
Have a great day!
Because it’s a type of warfare. Reddit was not grown by the Light not the breath of life. Which defines all life & what defines a kind & what it means to evolve chemically. Meaning to grow a soul or a spirt.
But reddit doesn’t have a soul not a spirit & that is why it is aggressive. The majority who use reddit have a soul & a spirit making it clash with the very platform reddit is.
If reddit had a soul or spirit.. It would simply evolve in a way that was more adaptive to those who have a soul & a spirit.
Most of them are atheist that thinks only their opinions matter
I think it’s because Reddit is a different type of social media. It’s meant to connect to strangers and not friends. Your username comes up, not your name. I think that gives people a sense of privacy and they use it in the worst ways. Unfortunately, that’s humans for you. If there’s no real consequences to what you say or do most will choose to be aggressive or rude.
Just my thoughts tho. 💕
It’s anonymous so I think it makes people feel powerful. They would never say the things they do in real life.
I think a lot of people on Reddit are getting negatively effected by current policies in the US, as a result we are a lot more stressed out.
I also think that a lot of bad actors have unleashed bots and troll farms on reddit.
I also think that the relative anonymity of Reddit causes people to be a lot more unkind.
All of these factors are cyclical and play into each other, unfortunately.
Can’t get punched in the face here.
Reddit’s like a pub where everyone’s wearing masks and half the crowd thinks they’re the smartest person in the room. Say one wrong word and suddenly you’re in a 3-hour debate with someone named ‘QuantumMemeLord420’ who thinks you’re personally responsible for the downfall of civilization.
A lot of people trying to make a community out of Reddit. Spending way too much time here. And often aggressive to outside thought
I have often thought this, too. I think it’s mostly due to the anonymity factor and herd mentality. People go along with aggression so they don’t become a target themselves. I wonder if the same people are as aggressive and quick to shut others down when communicating in person with strangers?
Additionally, I feel like the average user is younger and simply don’t have as much experience in civility.
Several reasons. First, people do not read posts fully before the knee jerks. Second, if they do actually read it, they often misunderstand it, or the post was badly or ambiguously written in the first place. Third, many people do not understand sarcasm, and unless you can pull it off online, don’t even try it unless you’ve got wink emojis for back up. And fourth and lastly, and which has always been the case since the early days on Freenet when there were no graphics, photos or videos, if you’re anonymous, you feel emboldened to say whatever crap you want. In the early 90s I was given a a solid piece of advice that I’ve followed to this day: Don’t say anything online unless you’re prepared to shout it across a crowded room.
Haha because that’s what people are really like on the inside. Just think….on here they can talk to u how they really want because it’s not face to face and people are not as well mannered on the inside as we want to believe.
Anonymity
Reddit, being both an online platform and also being somewhat anonymous, pretty much removes all consequences of anti-social behavior minus straight-up rule breaking actions that can get users banned. So people feel emboldened to act in ways they wouldn’t in person.
I have found reddit users either extremely helpful or downright jackasses. Seems if you have a differing opinion people will just absolutely lambast you. Its sad really.
Give a man a mask
Cuz fuck you that’s why!!!
Just kidding, it’s the internet, lots of people feel confident and powerful behind a keyboard.
I feel you. Hear me out- Unity consciousness is the only answer. I just joined, but I’m out here trying to work POSITIVITY. IF negativity can attack positivity, then POSITIVITY can attack negativity! Focus on heaven on earth, let’s go. 💚Start love bombing people, even strangers. IT STARTS WITH US.
One time I posted a (what I thought was) harmless comment on the Survivor subreddit and within 10 minutes someone had searched my entire account history then come into my DMs to call me a worthless drug addict and tell me to kill myself.
Weak people are very brave behind the keyboard and let their hatred spew freely because they feel safe in their anonymity. All you can do is laugh at pathetic losers like this and hope they get over whatever’s festering inside them before it eats them alive.
Aggressive! Who said I was aggressive! Them are fighting words. Let’s take this outside! Put ’em up!!! Put ’em up i said!!
Reddit is built around self-moderated communities, this tends to result in echo chambers. I feel like the attitude that these echo chambers create has shaped the overall attitude on Reddit, where even in more general subreddits people struggle with the idea that some people disagree with them.
It’s basically a digital version of an angry mob with pitchforks and torches looking for someone who’s different.
Anonymity
Why are you so fucking aggressive, is the right question. jfc, full of yourself or what? Main character syndrome eh? It’s not all about you, you know. Try just thinking about other people for once, Reddit is a bubble. If you know, you know – some people just don’t get it, guess which kind you are? ,
People who are genuinely interested in having an intelligent conversation will do so. Unfortunately, there are those who hide behind their keypads whose sole purpose is to create mindless chaos and mayhem. They’re probably not capable to begin with.
One thing I think is important is Reddit really isn’t social media. Its a platform with some social elements.
We also don’t post to Reddit like you might shout out a tweet or share an Instagram reel, and there’s far less “Reddit culture” than most are led to believe.
Instead, everything here is focused on communities, commonly known as subreddits.
Subs have their own rules, culture, and norms. Its important to both read the rules and read the room, so to speak, to determine if a sub is a good fit for you.
And if one isn’t, the best thing to do is move on. With 100,000 active subs, there’s probably a dozen or even dozens of subs that you are interested in and that’ll be a good fit for you.
Also sometimes in life, people are just not gonna like you for whatever reason. You may not like them for whatever reason too! And if you like the community but not this specific user, just use the block feature. Its okay to use it.
Because nobody likes you
It’s normal. This is my 5th reddit account in the last 8 months. I keep getting banned from admins who think they are president’s of the universe and what they say is law 🤣
I’m changing my tag name to Downvote king since everything I comment gets downvoted (please proceed)
I find most people more polite. However, I have been attacked a total of 6 times this year, I do answer them though so I guess I am 1/2 of the problem.
are they aggresive im new to this whole thing if its gonna be a bad experience i need to now ?
I hid all my usual facebook bookmarks etc and washed up on reddit’s shores, yep you sure can piss people off easily on here, i think a factor maybe how its more public, a wider audience and with only an arrow up or down to convey relative feedback, it takes getting used to.
Shit timing for me was the global car crash of politics and war that has made me waste just as much time scrolling for that next fixed of, omg we are all gonna die adrenaline, all in all i thinking about only letting my pc be for what i built it, pure gaming.
Yeah i agree. Redditors are so eager to jump down others throats and every subreddit only has like one acceptable way to look at things and if you don’t agree with the group you will get down voted into oblivion.
Anonymity + selection bias. People only comment on things they feel strongly about, and since they’re anonymous they can be mean about it with little to no repercussions besides potential negative internet points.
It’s an outlet, catharsis. People respond to situations that resonate with them and use it to unload their thoughts and feelings. If somebody is raging in a comment, something in their life sparked it
I think Reddit offers the most anonymity. Also, in my humble opinion, people are getting dumber and dumber and cannot tell the difference between fact and opinion; as a result, a lot of opinions are being pushed as fact and that also annoys people because it’s the internet and there’s really not a lot of incentive to practice restraint and self control.
sometimes it’s the fact that it’s difficult to communicate accurately online. sometimes it’s because people can be so stupid your eyes bleed.
to be fair, reddit is so much calmer than it used to be.
Yeah,……… All I said was “That meal was good enough for Jehova.”
……slaughtered.
Not everyone
i called selena gomez a flop once and based on the reaction you’d think i killed a puppy
>but sometimes i scroll reddit as ive been told its the best social media.
This is a Reddit based opinion. Nobody IRL even really thinks about Reddit or knows about it as much as the other social medias.
The problem with Reddit is that they’ve created echo chambers, hive minds and group think and if you fall out of line with any these then you’re the enemy. People on here really don’t have a lot going on in their lives so they bring their misery on here and force it on everybody else.
No well adjusted adults act like people on reddit do IRL and when they get called out they blame trolls and bot accounts because they can’t bear the idea of taking accountability for their actions.
Bots
Reality is boring for those people, so people turn to the internet where they’re anonymous and be what they truly wanna be
