I (30M) am worried about my younger sister (16F) staying out late with friends, and our parents want to make sure she’s safe. I talked to her about using a phone tracking service, and she’s okay with it as long as it’s not too invasive. I found a service that says it can track a phone’s location by sending a text link, which she’d have to click. It sounds simple, but I’m too afraid to ask if it’s worth trying because I’ve read mixed reviews online.
Some people say these kinds of apps are accurate and easy to use, but others mention issues like wrong locations or unexpected charges after a trial. Has anyone used a service like this? Is it reliable for checking someone’s location with their permission, or are there better options? I’m also curious how well customer support handles things like refunds or technical issues. I just want something that works without causing drama or wasting money.

Whatsapp location service would not work? She can share for 1 or 8 hours, live location, only when you need.
When I was driving cross country, I got tired of my wife asking where I was constantly. I was able to send a link to her that updated and had a time expiration on it. This was with Android and I didn’t need to do anything else. No point to paying for something the phone can already do.
Use Apple or Google Find My network or Life360
Life 360 is the best. You can put your whole family on there.
Google maps has location sharing. It doesn’t show history, just where the person was last pinged (so usually current location). My husband and I use it so we don’t have to annoy the other with questions about where they are.
Snapchat has a location service too – I hate it as a female for safety, but for hubby knowing where I am, it’s awesome.
You can set only specific people can see your location, so only hubby sees mine, unless I’m traveling with a friend in which case I give them access too.
Does she have an iPhone? She can share her location and always have it on
Life360 is great. My whole family uses it. Can set 2 place notifications for free so you can choose to get notified say, when she gets home or when she arrives at her friend’s house.
Sounds like an incredibly sketchy way of getting a tracker on someone’s phone.
Perhaps a legit app like life360?
