What is it with the younger generations (post millennial) obsession with femboys?

r/

Memes, jokes, fake 4chan posts… The subject matter seems everywhere.

Is it trolling? Is it just the “it” target for jokes/memes? Is it a fad?

Someone please explain this to me like you are helping your old feeble grandpa get into bed for his afternoon nap.

femboys are appealing to lgbt people and the younger generations are more likely to be lgbt

Sexual attraction to trans people or sexual/gender ambiguity/androgyny in general has been a thing since forever, but it wasn’t mainstream.

As people in those categories gain mainstream attention, the memeification and sexualization of those people is also gaining mainstream attention.

    I really don’t know, I think it’s mainly a joke.

  4. CherryCottonxo Avatar

It attracts people in the LGBTQ+ community sometimes to cisgender people too who just enjoys their content

  5. piku_han Avatar

Most of it is trolling and being ironic tbh.

because they mess with gender norms, piss off conservatives, look cute, and make the internet lose its mind. It’s trolling, it’s horny, it’s rebellion, and it’s a vibe. That’s it.

Most guys are attracted to feminine people, and seemingly afraid of talking to girls more than ever before.

For many, the alienation from girls and women goes as far as hatred, as evidenced by the popularity of misogynists like the alleged rapist and human trafficker Andrew Tate.

Femboys thus seem like the ideal to many guys: the allure of the feminine, with none of the confusion, unfamiliarity, or difficulty of actually learning how to talk to and have a relationship with an actual girl!

The other factor is that most guys are fascinated by and often attracted to dick, much more than the average woman, so that is another plus for many!

Of course there are going to be a lot of jokes and memes about them since yes, even in 2025, most guys are afraid of being seen as or called “gay”, though certainly much less so than ever before (at least since gayness has existed as a concept)!

Being on the gay spectrum has become much more acceptable. You can just say “I want to sleep with cute men” as a guy nowadays and people won’t shove your head into a toilet or tell you to kill yourself for it. I mean, you’ll still face backlashes from the worst of the bigots, but it wouldn’t be as bad as it would have been ten years or twenty years ago.

To put it more simply, people in modern days begin to increasingly view “gayness” as a spectrum rather than a “yes/no” question, and being into femboys is seen as semi-heteronormative (read: seen as normal by the status quo )

That’s your algorithm. Your post is the first thing I’ve seen about them

It’s not new at all. It’s just what it looks like in the 21st century

  11. Infamous_Bowler_698 Avatar

So it’s crazy is I just saw a video on this and apparently this historically keeps happening. It happened in historic japan, china, the ancient Rome and Greek. All by different names of course

  12. justaheatattack Avatar

    I dunno.

what’s with all the cartoons about bugs bunny in drag?

  13. RedTheDraken Avatar

    Hi, hot femboy here!

We’re attractive to both gays and straights cuz we have feminine body types and usually dress feminine. In the past, it was taboo to even consider liking something gay like a femboy. Nowadays, since gays are more accepted in society, younger men are more comfortable with expressing interest in femboys like me because they don’t feel like they’ll get bullied by their friends and colleagues as much as when we were kids. :3

Granted, society clearly still has a lot of room to grow lol

  14. throwtheamiibosaway Avatar

It’s mostly a joke or a very specific internet subculture. Nobody irl talks about femboys.

  15. JennaLS Avatar

Plenty of straight guys repulsed by vaginas

You’re telling on yourself. The algorithms feed you what they think you like.

It’s just a new label for an old thing. Feminine gays have been around since the beginning of time. Gay people in general became a lot less interesting once the LG part of the acronym became more normalized starting around the late 00s. People who call theme this had to find a new way to stand out and feel unique + internet/uwu culture x a massive dose of infantilization = “femboy”.

A lot of it was originally meme based. “Straight” men joking on message boards that it wasn’t gay to hook up with “femboys” etc.

  21. IKaffeI Avatar

You get the best of both world!

  22. Hello_Hangnail Avatar

This is the third time I’ve seen this posted

  23. AquamarineKitten Avatar

As someone from the younger generation I personally think it’s cool to support dudes wanting to look how they look, whether they are traditionally masculine, a femboy, something in between, or something completely different. I think it’s rad to just love and accept people as they are. 🤷‍♀️

  24. lurk_saynomore Avatar

Because femboys are hot, and younger generations are less likely to be weird about queer people.

  25. Arroz1238 Avatar

Before femboys, there were “traps”… Nothing has changed but the name. Millennials were also obsessed with “traps”

  26. kousaberries Avatar

I’m a millennial bi woman and femboys are my ideal type 🤷‍♀️

  27. Acceptable-Teach-442 Avatar

because why not, as soon as you think something is weird, it keeps getting weirder, that’s the way of the world

  28. Nighteyes09 Avatar

Lol. The only guys I’ve ever heard talking about femboys are boomers and gen x.

  29. bunker_man Avatar

Its just a way to express gay thoughts without having to just come out and say you have gay thoughts.
