The US
The US
The US or America
As BOB.
I mostly refer to it as the USA.
Depends on who I’m talking go. “America” with other Americans. “The States” with a Canadian. “The US” with all others.
US
The US to Americans, The States to other nationalities.
The US
I usually say the US.
The US pretty much exclusively, sometimes as “the states”
‘merica
America, or the US.
I think I have a tendency to say “America” when I’m thinking more of the land and the culture, and “the US” when I’m thinking more of the government.
Usually “the US”
US of fuckin’ A
The US
The US or America. Sometimes “This country” when complaining about it lol
US or USA, depends how picky my geography teacher is
The States
The US
If I’m talking to someone from here – The US. If I’m talking to someone from Canada or the UK “the states”
The US.
In conversation I most often say America or the US
I usually say “The US” to people.
The US or America
U.S.
The States
I’ll say America. But if I’m feeling patriotic or sarcastic I’ll do a beat by letter USA. If I’m making fun of it I’ll call it ‘Merica with the trucker cartman voice.
America or the US
America or USA
Depends on the context
Sometimes one will just sound better than the other.
Very broadly, America is a nation, and The United States of America is a country [edit but both can be abbreviated as US which is more ambiguous to me]
US or the States
The US or United States
America.
The US or America
The U.S.
The States.
United States
US, most of the time. If in a group with people from other places that are some variation of united states, I’ll specify USA, but rarely spell anything out.
The U.S.
Home
Either US or America depending on context.
United States but mostly since that’s how my son knows it (he’s learning country names and gets confused if I say America lol). I am teaching him how it can be called different names 😜
“The States”
It used to be as “the us” but since marrying a Brit it’s shifted to “the states”
America. Anything else feels weird.
I say America in a Hank Hill accent. I find it random that all of a sudden people in other countries are annoyed we call it America when we’ve been doing it for nearly 250 years.
Also I watch a YouTuber who calls it the U.S. flag instead of the American flag and I don’t know why but it bothers me. I’ve never heard anyone IRL call it anything other than the American flag.
I would ironically say merica, but now it’s no longer ironic.
The US or America.
I use her full name when she’s misbehaving.
Merica
America if im in America the US if online or out of the country
As an Alaskan, the lower 48 is usually referred to as:
-The States,
-The Lower 48, and hilariously,
-The US
US probably.
Usually “America” even though I know it annoys the whole rest of the hemisphere.
I refer to the country as a whole to americans as These United States or some other plural part
American for the people.
The US for the government, meaning the state that does weird things dealing with the rest of the world.
Pretty even split between US and America
The US
US
Lately, the fucked up crazy country that wants to take away everyone’s rights and freedom
The US, the United States, sometimes America. Calling it “USA” makes it sound like you’re doing a Borat impression.
If I’m talking to someone out of country I will say “I’m from the states”
US
The US, America, or the United States are all common.
USA is a giveaway that the speaker probably isn’t American.
US or America.
Never USA or United States of America.
Texas
The US
America
I don’t. I’m not a fortune son
America.
Depends who I’m talking to but usually just say the us
Home
Usually just The US. Sometimes I use America.
Whadya say we try to get “Vespuccistan” to catch on? It has a nice ring to it.
“the states”
US
In conversation, the States. In print, US.
America in conversation, the US online because it takes less time to type
The US, unless someone specifically asks me if I’m American or something
The US of A
The US unless I’m speaking to the neighbors (I live in Mexico) then it’s El Norte.
America.
I don’t stick with one label—but for some reason I find “US of A” to be underused and underappreciated. I just like the sound of it.
I didnt realize I was such in the minority, I prefer to use United States, and sometimes US if I need to make it short
Although in russian and Ukrainian i use America (Америка) and USA (США)
“The US” pretty much exclusively.
The US
I almost hate to give this away. But calling it “USA” or “The USA” is a dead giveaway that someone is not from here and an extremely easy way to spot a bot.
America is what I use. Online I will use US, sometimes if people ask where I am from I always say California.
If I were an elevator attendant, I’d say “GOING DOWN “
The states or the US.
Los estados unidos. I mostly speak English but it just sounds so fancy.
It’s funny how no one really uses the full “USA” anymore. Just “US” now
I swear when I was a kid it was always USA
Most of the time, I say America.
Others I use: Columbia, ‘Merica, et États-Unis
US
The States.
The US / United States
The U.S., typically.
Within the context of nation, America, or the US. As a nationality, I am an American, not a United Statesian or some bullshit and people who insist on using that term should be treated with contempt. I do not identity with the bullshit term of Estadounidense.
There is no other nation in the world where the term “America” was used in the formal title. Every country in the Western Hemisphere had the opportunity use the term but rejected the idea and then the dorks from these places feel we have no right to use the name for ourselves.
To Americans, I am from Arkansas.
To English speaking Foreigners, I am from the U.S.
To non-English speakers, I am from America.
The US.
I think I use US, the States, and America interchangeably and all as often.
The US, America or United States. Anyone saying USA online is automatically noticed as a foreigner. We literally do not use the term outside of a few patriotic songs, and referring to ‘Team USA’ in the Olympics and other international sporting events.
Mostly U.S. or the U.S., though I use American exclusively as the demonym or as an adjective.
Estados unidos
the states. if i’m at work talking to a caller that lives in canada or elsewhere i’ll say stateside.
america
The Good Ole U. S .of A.!
America, Fuck Yeah
Well there’s “Texas” and then there’s “ain’t Texas”
I’ll normally say “the US” unless I’m using a fixed phrase where you’d say “America” (e.g. “This is America, it’s a free country!”) but I find the fussing about using “America” or especially “Americans” vs the internet neologism of “USAmericans” completely pointless – it seems like a nitpick, frankly. I get where people are coming from in theory, but almost nobody saying “America” is referring to the entire North and South American continents, and the US is the only country on either continent with America in its name. I’ve yet to see an argument that convinces me that this semantic distinction is meaningful or would meaningfully affect the rest of the world’s understanding of the Western hemisphere. Sorry, Canadians! Love and respect, but this is pointless!
America usually
The States?
In good times, the US. In bad times, Dumbfuckistan.
The us unless I’m hanging around canadian friends then I’ll start saying the states
The U.S. or America. The U.S. of A. if I’m trying to drive home a point.
America!
US or America. When visiting Canada, though, I say “the states”.
Online, I nearly always say “the States” because that’s what people outside the US call it.
Otherwise, I say, “The United States of America! The greatest country ordained by God!” as aggressively as I can, salute the nearest flag, then praise Jesus on my knees. /s
“The US”
“USA” is for chanting at sports games.
The US
The U.S.
America is definitely my go to. Occasionally I will say US. Very occasionally I will write “USA”. I almost never use the full name.
I don’t. If I didn’t have to be here, I wouldn’t be.
America, almost exclusively.
Usually “the US” or “America”.
If I feel sarcastic or critical about the current state of politics, I might say “Murrika”.
If I’m overseas and talking to other travelers, I may call it “the States”.
Depends. “The US,” “The States,” “America” somewhat interchangeably.
Latin Americans get annoyed by and are annoying about “America,” so I do tend to avoid that if speaking English down there.
U S
America, sometimes the U.S.
America. Never once had someone in real life take offense to it.
The United States
The US
Formerly known as a democratic republic.
Almost always just america
United States
The US.
Depends with whom and in what context I’m referring to “our country” in. If I’m talking to an American about something taking place within the borders I’ll just call it America, but if I’m talking about other/multiple countries/global topics I’ll refer to it as the states
‘Merica!!
The US
America IRL, but the U.S. online.
US
The US.
The US, when in Mexico or speaking to any Spanish speaker I’ll say “los estados”.
‘Merica!
“America” to Indians and “The US” to other people
Other Americans, America, online and with people of other nationalities, the US.
Estados Unidos
Everything but “USian”, basically.
Having moved to another country and travelling around, I picked up what is said here and usually it is “the states” when casual and “the US” when more serious.
Example Casual: Yeah, I’m from the states.
Example Serious: Yeah, I saw the US tariff policy changed again.
America
America for the most part. Most places in the world refer to the US as “America” so it’s able to be used with most people worldwide. The only thing that is sometimes an issue is some Spanish speakers who have a word basically for “United Statesian” (doesn’t exist outside of Spanish) have an issue calling Americans “Americans because they use the other word. They use “Americano/Americana” to refer to Americans too so it’s complicated.
Sometimes on other platforms I’ll say “the states” as I’ve had a lot of European friends that refer to America that way.
‘Merica. It’s the great lakes accent
With my shirt off, firing an M4 Carbine into the air with one hand and waving old glory with the other while a bald eagle sits perched on my shoulder shouting U S A U S A U S A U S A
America
I occasionally use “US” or “United States” when referring specifically to the government. Other times when an acronym is called for I’ll use “USA”.
But 99% of the time I say “America”.
Either the US or the States.
Counts on the people I’m talking to.
The US, USA, or the states.
merica
The States.
When it’s a culture like topic, I say American. “That food is totally different than American food.” When it’s geographic or government, I say US. “Are they from the US?”
U.S., America or The States
CONUS, “the states”, stateside.
Or, in nostalgic terms, “The old Republic”
Typically when talking to other Americans I’ll say or “America” or “domestically.”
When speaking with people outside of the U.S. I usually say “the States” or “the U.S.”
The US
The u.s. or just the states
Usually with an expletive, after seeing the news
these United States
The U.S. or The States. To my friends in the U.K., I say, Here Across the Pond.
If I’m feeling super sarcastic, “USizicstania”.
Otherwise, “the U.S.”
