DAE realize as they get older that every generation has those who think the end of the world is coming but don’t understand others have thought the same for hundreds of years before them?

Absolutely! End of time has been a hot topic for many!

You don’t understand, THIS TIME it’s SERIOUS! Just look at everything happeningđŸ˜±đŸ˜±.

Yep. Every generation thinks the world is ending and they have it the worst anyone has ever had it. And you can’t reason with them. They have no experience to measure it against.

    Yes, I realize.

    One generation will be right.

People keep acting rn like we only got another 50-100 years left. And yeah, pollution is terrible, we had so many things like Chernobyl to up the timeline on that
but I don’t really believe it’s that close. Honestly we gotta strong 100 years left at the very least.

When you lived your whole life in Rome, the fall of Rome is the end of your world.

That’s true, but it’s also only been within the last 60 years that humans have actually been capable of ending the world. Multiple people alive today have the ability to eliminate all human life on earth.

Yes. Frankly, I find the “the sky is falling! The sky is falling!” People rather tiring.

Yes and every generation below you is more lewd and has shitty music

The world has ended many times, in pamphlets and prophecies, in YouTube videos with dramatic music, the Watchtower magazine, and cracked-voiced preachers waving their arms at the sky like it owes them rent. It ends with blood moons, comets, calendars, elections. Each time, people stock up on beans and bullets. Then the sun rises like a drunk showing up late to his shift.

They are always wrong. Every single one. Like broken clocks without even the decency of being right twice a day. But here’s the thing… someone, someday, will be right.

Some man in Idaho or a barefoot saint in the desert will say, “This is it,” and for once, it will be. The sky will open like a wound. The oceans will stand up. The stars will wink out like they’re tired of watching us ruin everything.

And no one will be around to congratulate him. No interviews. No book deals. Just dust and the last, echoing “I told you so” swallowed by the void.

There’s always new reasons why the world is ending. So, they will recognize others have thought this, but will think “yeah but they were ignorant and it was over silly stuff like the cold war or the Mayan calendar ending.. This is REALLY going to be the end of the world”

When I was a teen, my pastor started the sermon by reading a letter that was all doom and gloom about the future world. It was written in the 1800’s. That sermon has stuck with me decades later.

I mean I read a ton of history books and civilizations do end in horrific ways. It’s good to prepare the best you can and work towards the betterment of your community and society.

In the 80s, we really did think we would die in a nuclear war that would end life.

  16. Few_Cup3452 Avatar

Things like the mayan calendar are silly things to panic over but climate change is real. Humans can end our species. Y2k wasn’t a gag, it just got resolved in time.

  17. Chicagogirl72 Avatar

The Bible is real and the end times will happen / are happening

This seems to be a Abrahamic religion thing.

    This is strange
. My girlfriend and I just had an hour+ phone conversation this afternoon about that exact question!! We never came the same conclusion. I say “yes” because when you look back in history there have been wickedly hard times. So I hope someone is writing a journal about how we’re living today to give guidance to the next generation.

  20. fuck_reddits_trash Avatar

Well it is kind of true though

Inflation (at least in my country) will have Rent be equal to average income in about 30 years if nothing changes.

Nuclear war is a real possibility, not extremely likely, but estimated around 1-2% a year is still pretty damn high for something that would kill everybody on the planet 5x over

Fiat currency imploding is a real threat
when 62% of the entire world’s form of money relies on 7 US stocks. That’s not a recipe for a stable currency.

    And even excluding all that
Global warming will get us if we don’t fix our ways.

I think that what most people mean when they say “the end of the world”,
they mean “the end of human civilization”.

What follows (e.g “Mad Max”) is unknown.

Every generation has the problems of their time, that’s true. That does not however mean things aren’t getting worse.

The power of the people in countries across the world are being blatantly undermined. They used to give it. The lies are becoming more intentionally obvious. The lies arent meant to be believable anymore, the lies exist to demonstrate they can decide what the truth is.
