First of all, for context, a lot of people really don’t understand why she was “cancelled”, or became a lightning rod for the alt right. She just became a useful idiot in a very complex and nuanced political schema whose primary goal has been to fuck over the working class.
I will say that I identify as a socialist, a queer person, and very left wing. On the other hand, I absolutely comprehend the basis of “Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism”. I do not agree with it, but I can understand how someone might feel that way. For example, the US government (under Biden?) tried to coin the tern “birthing person” to describe cisgender women, as a way to create a binary between trans women. I’m not a woman, but that’s obviously offensive as shit.
I understand the perspective of women who have had to deal with both the physical, psychological, social, etc. impacts of neon born a female and navigating society, and how it light feel when someone who was born male suddenly “decideds” to become a woman and feels entitled to March in the same parades, use the same bathrooms, and draw the same government benefits.
Shushing those discussions away is a huge part of how we ended up in the situation we are in right now – which I mean, that trans people are more reviled and hated now than they have been in a long time because the counter culture pushed a little too hard and overstepped. Especially with “cancel culture”, having prescribed opinions basically made people go crazy in protest.
The real tea is that at the end of the day, trans folks aren’t really that interesting or different. They’re usually just people who want to piss quietly, work at a bank, and walk their dogs.
But somehow they became the easiest target for a lot of folks to excise their existential dread on. The head that certain people needed to push down on to stay above water.
With regard to Joan, she entered the TERF community by simply disagreeing with a company over firing a woman who refuses to respect a transwoman’s pronouns. Citing the same issues I mentioned before, Joan believed that if you were a biological woman, assigned female at birth, you should not be compelled, required, or obligated to accept trans women as “Women”, or of the same cloth.
The conservation COULD and SHOULD have ended there. I believe trans women are women, I interact with trans women as if they are women, but I also understand that some cisgender women don’t want to be around a penis in the locker room. I think there is a very easy way to rectify an issue like that, but that isn’t the point.
The point is that that f*kng woman has now devoted her whole life to an anti-trans agenda. There is a significant difference between having an opinion about something you don’t agree with; whether you’re right or wrong, and becoming an activist over it.
She has a billion dollars. She could have bought an island. Several islands. A castle. Go away. Like honestly, fuck all the way off and mind your own business, bitch.
She isn’t saving lives. She isn’t making the world a better place. The magical universe she created is now associated with fascism, racism and overt bigotry.
Joan didn’t have to do any of this shit. She wanted to. And she could have tried to be at least a little nice about it, and apologize that she has an opinion, but no. She gets worse every day. She tweets congratulatory and petty shit every time even the most minuscule of negative things happens in the legislature.
She is absolutely abhorrent and bankrupt of any moral fibre.
And it broke my heart because I worshipped her as a kid. I used to memorize her guest speaker speech where she talked about the importance of failure. Have read every book and seen every movie – until 2019.
Dead to me. I don’t even want to hear people talk about Harry Potter in passing. Fuck her.

Guy I went to HS with. Super smart. Had an amazing future. Wasn’t allowed to experiment safely. Went overboard after HS and ended up addicted.
The world missed out and it makes me wonder how many amazing things we’ve missed out on for this reason.
