I always have a morning coffee anyway, but if I wake up exhausted sometimes I’ll pop a whole sheet of caffeine pills throughout the day, adding up to about 600-800mg of caffeine. Still nodding out at my desk. What gives?
Why does caffeine do absolutely fuck all for me?

Try going a couple weeks on low to no caffeine then add caffeine back in slowly you have just built up an immunity but thats a fuck ton of caffeine
First, stop taking those caffeine pills. Not good for you. Second, caffeine isn’t cocaine. It just isn’t capable of overcoming exhaustion. It’s just meant to put a little pep in your step, but if you don’t have a step in you to begin with…..
Also, don’t do cocaine.
Do you have ADHD?
Its also possible the caffeine is maiing you ti r d by dehydrating you if you drink caffein in things like coffee you add more water than the caffeine takes out but those pills when taking without a glass of water will cause you to become dehydrated pretty quick
ADHD?
It’s probably doing more than you think.
I once got to the point where I was dependant on caffeine but didn’t realise it because I was still exhausted all the time.
I stopped drinking it because I thought it was a waste of money. I crashed hard. Turns out it was the only thing keeping me going at all.
I’m a lot more careful with how much caffeine I consume now.
You’re overdoing it. So it’s having the opposite affect. Sometimes less is more. If I have a couple Energy Drinks like I did yesterday at work. It made me so much harder than if I would just drink my regular Diet Coke or coffee.
Stop any caffeine.
Do you do exercises? Do you do sports? Do you go to the gym? Any cardio?
An exhaustion of your back muscles can lead to spine discomfort that ruins the blood circulation out of your neck and brain. This alone affects your sobriety, energy. Nerves are at the center of how you feel your body and yourself, this is why is important the muscles to be in shape to protect the nerves from unwanted interference.
Consult a doctor if you wanna know more.
honestly man, if caffeine ain’t doing shit, you’re either way too used to it or something deeper’s off. like sleep issues, burnout, or even medical stuff. 800mg should have you bouncing off the walls, not nodding off. maybe chill on it for a bit, reset, and see if your body starts responding again. if not, probs worth checking with a doc.
You could have Sleep Apnea. Maybe your Vitamin B12 is low? You could be depressed.
You could also be in an evil spiral with the caffeine, where your body is very busy burning off the days supply of caffeine most of the night so it never gets time to do the cleanup and routine maintenance that normally should happen during sleep.
First step could be to see a doctor to get it checked out. In any case: Drop the excess caffein, do some light exercise every day. Maybe eat more plant-based foodstuff?
You’re beyond addicted that’s why. Caffeine pills are not good too. You should 200% stop those
I have the same problem. There are several factors, but the main one for me is a genetic variation in an enzyme that affects how quickly I metabolize caffeine.
If you are a “fast metabolizer,” your body might process and eliminate caffeine so fast that it doesn’t hang around long enough to produce its characteristic stimulant effects. This genetic predisposition means that your brain might not register it as a meaningful boost in alertness or energy.
I had the same problem switched to Kratom and it has improved my life 10-fold. Clean energy no jitters. I know some people may consider it controversial, but it is in the caffeine family. And it doesn’t take nearly as much as it did with the caffeine. It worked so well for me and I will always recommend it to anyone who is willing to listen.
Came here like many others to ask if you have ADHD because that’s a pretty well-documented thing with caffeine not having an effect….
Stop taking the caffeine pills, it’s too easy to overdo it. If you’re nodding out at work after taking all that, you need to do something different. Do you feel irritable? I was drinking two energy drinks every morning at work for about five or six months, some time in my 20s. I turned into a complete asshole.
ADHD probably. It’s connecting to your brain in a way that is satisfying a dopamine response. So you don’t get the “up” you get the “I’m safe; I can rest.” Wild right ?
Sometimes when I wake up too early on my day off and can’t get back to sleep, the only thing that works is for me to have a cup of coffee and lay down, it knocks me right out lol. I think there’s something wrong with me 😂
Built different
Caffeine masks the effects of tiredness rather than giving you energy (unless you put a shitload of sugar in it) so if you aren’t sleeping then no amount of coffee or pills will help
My guess is you need to change your night time routine. Get rid of the bedroom tv, keep your phone on the other side of the room, re-read a book at night to drift off (but pick a shorter book so when you fall asleep and drop it the noise doesn’t wake you up)
Your blowing out your adreanals.
Adenosine is a neurotransmitter that builds up in your brain throughout the day, promoting sleepiness. Caffeine’s molecular structure is similar enough to adenosine, which can bind to the same receptors in your brain but it doesn’t activate them. This effectively blocks adenosine from doing its job, making you feel more alert.
Some people have slippery adenosine receptors, thu,s caffeine does not have the enervating effect.
People with ADHD often have lower levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in focus, motivation, and reward. This can contribute to symptoms like inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Caffeine indirectly increases dopamine levels in the brain. In people with typical brain chemistry, this can lead to increased alertness and focus. However, in some people with ADHD, the increase in dopamine may have a different effect. For some with ADHD, their brains are already in a state of overstimulation. The increase in dopamine from caffeine might help to regulate brain activity and create a sense of calm, which can lead to feeling sleepy.
ADHD negates or reverses the effects. You can also have a genetic makeup (like I do) that simply metabolizes caffeine at a ridiculously efficient rate, rendering it very negligible in its traditional effects. Between my genetics and my ADHD, I can drink any energy drink and then go take a nap.
Be careful and watch the caffeine pill episode of Save by the Bell.
Caffeine is like long term use heroin for me. I need it to not feel like shit, but I get no further positive effects from it. It just takes me up to zero. I drink coffee 24/7.
It’s possible to have two copies of the fast version of the gene responsible for caffeine metabolism, meaning your body is naturally very resistant to caffeine because it breaks it down super fast. I have this (fun little experiment we ran in genetics lab). It sucks. To top it off whatever tiny effect caffeine may have on you gets erased by the tolerance you build from daily consumption. People like us just need to get good sleep, we don’t get to rely on caffeine to help us.
Addendum: For anyone interested you can have either two fast versions (immune to caffeine), one fast and one slow version (normal), or two slow version (hypersensitive to caffeine/it makes you feel like you’re having a heart attack)
You’re taking way too much. At that dose you’re probably feeling sleepy because of high blood pressure issues.
Same with me I have a high caffeine tolerance. Ween your self off and stop for about 3 months then it will work again. Space it out so you don’t build a tolerance. Only advice I can give other than get sleep. Don’t keep upping your dose it can kill you and/or cause long term health problems. Just because it is caffeine doesn’t mean it is safe.
If you are having that much caffeine daily you may want to take a break from it for a bit or at least cut back to under 400 mg/day.
If you go cold turkey you will probably be fatigued and get headaches for a few days, so have some ibuprofen ready and start on a weekend. It may take a week to feel normal.
Caffeine not affecting you is supposed to be a sign of ADHD.
I have ADHD and coffeine just does not work on me in the same way . I almost feel like i can sleep after drinking it lol
I like to drink coke when playing video games, but it makes me feel sleepy and I want to nap. I think I have ADHD.
You’re probably not getting enough nutrients and minerals for your body to function properly.
Sounds like you need some vitamins and stop using caffeine.
