My wife and I currently live in an apartment and our lease won’t be up until December. I recently signed up for the airforce and will be leaving for basic training in May. My wife is planning on moving in with a family member due to her not feeling safe with our neighbors while I’m away. My question is, since we’re both on the lease will orders for me to go to basic allow us to break our lease without penalty? Our front office told us that both my name and my wife’s name would need to be on the orders for them to break the lease. However, I saw a few other posts stating SCRA covers dependents on the lease as well. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance!

SCRA will cover your dependent Spouse. The law would be useless if it didn’t.
Hey I’m currently in the military, you need to check you lease for a military clause, if it has one you can break your lease with proof of orders, your wife doesn’t need to be on them, the only issue I can see coming from it is that you’re not PCS’ing, you’re going to basic, but I think you have the mental capacity to bs your way into the military clause
