A neighbor I had in while living Okinawa had a tree that bloomed for a month in February every year and it was the most gorgeous thing I had ever seen as far a flowers go! They also grew Orchids 🙌🏾
A lot of roses have been modified to the point that they look gorgeous, but have little to no scent. So I love growing roses, but I love smelling carnations.
Lily, which sucks as someone who’s an animal lover LOLOLOL since being unable to have pets at the current moment, I have brought home a couple lily bouquets because it’ll be the only time I get to enjoy them.
Fragrance: very specific, but the flowers of the Canada red chokecherry tree. the smell is like a cross between an almond blossom and honeysuckle, so sweet and soothing.
Beauty and the Beast has been my favorite movie for as long as I can remember! My grandfather and I even planted a rose garden together because we loved it so much. I carried a single red rose instead of a bouquet on my wedding day.
Used to be sunflower. Now it’s marigolds! But man do I love flowers. Poppies are dope. 3 best smelling are lilac, magnolia and lily of the valley. Ok fine roses are 4th. Press 3 for more flower musings
Depends on when, where and what occasion you ask me. Peonies are my favorite scent and as a bouquet, but they’re mildly toxic to cats when consumed, so we keep roses in the apartment which are a classically beautiful and fragrant alternative. Lavender is my favorite floral ingredient. Hydrangeas and Lilacs are my favorite bushes. In the spring time at full bloom their scent carries onto the highway; with the windows rolled down their scent reminds me that life is worth living. My favorite woodland flowers are snow drops and lily of the valleys. Cherry blossom trees are beautiful, and I dream of seeing them in person one day. Lilies are some of my favorite to look at, but I am repulsed by their scent, also they’re dangerously toxic to cats. Finally, hibiscus flowers, when I studied abroad in Hong Kong we went to lamma island where hundreds of hibiscus flowers were in full bloom establishing a core memory; when I see them I become very nostalgic.
The Canada anemone, anemone canadensis. They’re not glamorous at all, just simple small white wildflowers that grow in abundance along the roadsides and streams and in meadows near where I grew up in rural Ontario. They don’t have a scent. But I love them. I used to pick tiny bouquets of them and put them in a glass jam jar on my bedroom windowsill when I was a kid/teen, and then often keep them after they dried out.
Also: lilacs, daffodils, blue irises, magnolias, wild violets, lily of the valley, apple and crabapple blossoms, white trilliums, orchids, peonies because they remind me of my gran…
I love sunflowers because of their color and how great they look. But I also like daisies because of their sensitivity in their looks. What smells best, I don’t really know – roses are what I’m used to smell but generally speaking I don’t really know; I don’t have flowers at home bc of my allergies and my cats would try their best to eat them.
The smell in the middle of warm summer day when you’re outside and the air smells like a fairytale because of all the wild flowers and freshly cut grass…that’s my favorite thing.
Aquilegia, aka Columbine. They come in SO many varieties and if you have a few different ones in your garden they interbreed and make even prettier varieties on their own. Love them so much!
