A bit long, so I apologize.
Some context. Our long time next door neighbor died of cancer about 7 years ago. He had 2 friends, one we knew better than the other. The one we knew well (we’ll call him Luke) had lost his home to foreclosure, and the other guy (we’ll call him Mike) was the executor of our neighbors estate. Mike took possession of the house (no heirs), and Luke was moving in.
As they were cleaning the house out and Luke was moving in, Luke died suddenly and unexpectedly. Mike was then going to move into the house. We didn’t know him as well, but seemed like a nice guy.
Mike suffered a series of strokes one night before moving in. It significantly affected his vision and he is now in a long term care facility confined to a wheelchair. He has 2 brothers. One does nothing for Mike and doesn’t visit him. The other got him into the facility and handled the paperwork, but only visits Mike about once a month, despite living minutes away and not working.
My wife visits Mike once a week. She goes regardless of his disposition. He’s depressed and can be mean/difficult. She lets it roll off her back because she knows he has no one and just keeps going to keep him company for a while. She brings him ice cream because she knows he likes it, brings him cupcakes on his birthday, and socks when he needs new ones. She’s been doing this weekly for over a year for someone we didn’t know well because she knows he’s suffering. She’s such a kind person. She’s a great example to our kids. She’s amazing.

She seems like a real one. Good work man :))
We need more people in the world like your wife. This warms my heart – thank you for sharing.
“She’s a great example for our kids, shes amazing”
That’s so gosh darn sweet happy for yall op.
You found yourself a gem brother. Match that same energy!
Cursed house?
That’s great to hear. Good on her!
Kudos to you for finding an amazing woman!! 🥰🥳🥰
I want to be friends with your wife.
She sounds like a good egg. What about you? I hope you guys are two fantastic eggs together.
I saw my father in a facility weekly to take him to appointments, see him when I came into town (3 hrs. away), and made sure his needs were met as he spiraled into Alzheimer’s. One close friend saw him multiple times per week, as did my uncle and grandfather until he passed. My sisters rarely saw him. They both live less than an hour away.
What your wife is doing goes beyond just being friendly. Compassion runs through her veins.
Sometimes, you find there are still amazing people in this world even if our future seems hopeless.
I want to know who ended up with the house because it deserves to be the wife of OP
Also as a medical professional your wife is an angel and she is the type of person we are most grateful for with people like in your story
I don’t believe a word of this post.
That is some crazy stuff going on around that house. 😬 BUT your wife is a true gem. 💎 so sweet. 🥹
You both are amazing people ❤️
As someone who worked in that kind of facility, there is definitely a need for people like her. Whether or not he can express it, I know he appreciates this. You’re wife is incredibly kind. I wish y’all all the best you deserve
