Doubt many people want to see a random twat be a twat as a main character, for better or worse. They’d rather they just fucked off and not bothered anyone.
Main character yet energy in your own life is one thing but when it starts to effect others, you need to make sure you’re also a good bit player at the same time
It’s also pretty dehumanizing and dissociating intentionally focusing on separation and solitary social states. Especially in a world where the ironic “social media” is quite literally introverting in terms of actual social interactions and the limiting functionality of social media, albeit great for networking, not so great for individuals unaware of its networking utility and application potential, or those that aren’t actually inclined to follow through with using it for actual networking purposes; I write this in jest after one too many bad tinder interactions. But whether it’s “main character” or “NPC” terminology I can’t help but find these terms dehumanizing and demeaning rather than empowering or beneficial in any way really. It sounds a lot more like a phenomenological digitally modern collective manifestation of psychological narcissism to describe people not as deeply rabbit holed and echo chambered as they are, entirely artificially created and of their own making mind you, with the terms being like a defense mechanism relying off of this terminology to denigrate “other” social groups that aren’t in their sphere of influence/socialization, and to reinforce their lifestyle via the alienation of others not aligned with their views/way of life; positively reinforced by their relative communities affirming them with likes/comments/hearts/shares/rt’s/reposts etc. etc.
But, I’m also being a massive cynical asshole, so to each their own.

That’s why these days I keep up NPC energy as much as possible. I used to want to always be the main character, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Nice. The old curse of “May you be born in interesting times” is a cousin of this sentiment.
Main-character energy: because who doesn’t want to trip over their own plot twists and still look fabulous doing it?
So you won’t die, but your friend probably will!
