I forget what it is that I forgot that I forgot about

Haha, happens to me all the time… I guess it’s just our brains playing tricks on us.

Memories carve pathways in your mind, and the theory goes that the act of remembering is to simply trace through those paths again, effectively re-living them.

When you can’t remember something, the path either has worn away, or redirected to something else, but the “signposting” is still there.

When the signposting runs out and you haven’t gotten anywhere important, you get confused.

The signs said the Beach was this way.. Why am I not at a beach?

In a nerdy way: you remember you forgot something because your mind noticed that there is a missing memory or information your mind doesn’t know what it’s but he knows that something has changed and there is something missing like when someone put something on the table and you don’t pay attention for it but when you go back to look at the table you see that the object is not there you don’t know what was in the table but you are sure that there is something missing from the table so you conclude you forgot what was in there

And then you spend the next hour trying to remember what you forgot… only to forget that too!

Sometimes I feel like I have forgotten something. But I cannot figure out what. But 100% of the time, I find out later that I forgot something.

I understand how frustrating it can be when you forget something. That’s why I do my best to jot down notes about tasks or reminders since we can’t always rely on our brain.

I love that moment when I realize I forgot something… it’s like my brain is playing hide and seek, and I’m definitely not winning!

You know you’re in trouble when your brain goes, ‘Hey, remember that thing you forgot?’ and you’re like, ‘Nope, but thanks for the reminder!’ It’s like my memory has a sense of humor… too bad it’s not funny!

I distinctly remember telling myself to remember this. Now if only I remembered that, rather than the remembering.

Me in the morning trying to remember the dream I just woke up from.

Sometimes I feel like I dreamt of a genius idea, only to realize I have no idea what that was.
