I really like Rockstar’s witty dialogue and writing. It never fails to feel fresh. But for someone who has been playing video games since 2006, I don’t think I have it in me to play another “Go to this location and kill 7 dudes” mission. I see its potential as a casual game for casual consumption, but the hype surrounding it is just strong branding. I think Rockstar should start making movies and tv shows instead of video games.

GTA has always been a casual game
I just hope they do something about the flying mechanics. Maybe it’s me, but I HATE flying things in GTA games. It’s incredibly annoying.
I just hope it’s not a total cash grab at every turn.
We’ve been waiting so long, this better be the greatest game ever made.
The excitement for Rockstars games is not usually for redefining gameplay mechanics, but immersive story.

Upvote for truly unpopular opinion, in my opinion!
“Potential as a casual game” I’m confused on what you mean by that. Has gta not been casual at every level for years?
I completely agree with this.
Someone at work, not 5 minutes ago, started talking to me about it and I had to cut him off and say “I’m glad you are excited, but I have not interest in it. The best one was Vice City for it’s 80’s atmosphere, the rest sucked and will suck. We can keep talking, but I would be unable to share your enthusiasm for it.”
He said nothing and walked away.
We have seen no gameplay. Sure the hype is strong branding, I don’t think people are as unaware of that fact as you think, they’re still gunna get excited because excitement feels good. I see the appeal of thinking you’ve figured that out and other people haven’t so that must be why they’re hyped. Honestly tho the core of your post seems to be weak as hell and much more to capitalise on potential engagement the new trailer might bring for you. Now THAT is boring.
You mean game of the year
Damn you’ve been playing games only since 06? Way to make me feel old lol. But yeah I love Rockstar games but they do feel dated at times especially with combat
I dont know about boring, but so far my biggest complaint is that it doesnt look like a GTA game.
If red dead 2 is anything to go by, it will be bloody amazing.
I refuse to play it on console, so i will need to wait longer.
