When sitcoms have laughter after jokes, cheering when guest stars come on and applause at the end, it just adds something to the show. It’s a vibe, it’s nostalgic, it’s fun, it feels less lonely and gives me a sense of validation because other people are laughing. Shows with live studio audiences (multi-camera) have a different humor and acting style than shows without them (single camera) which I love! I’m not saying that I don’t like single camera shows (The Middle is one of my favorites), but I like when sitcoms feel like sitcoms and not like 20 minute movies. If I wanted to watch a movie I would watch a movie!

It is nostalgic but I don’t prefer it
I’m the opposite, I feel like its manipulating your brain into thinking something is funny when your really just reacting to other people’s laughter. Try watching one of those shows without the laugh track…its actually really cringe. The worse to watch without a laugh track is big bang theory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ib889nSZVU
Sitcoms in the 70s were very organic with live auidences. Good times you could hear wild reactions from the audience when they watch.
