A TikTok account reposted a video of me, which got 2m views, 100k shares, and 10,000 comments, comparing me to cartoon characters and such, not in a good way. I’ve reported the video, gotten my friends to report it, messaged the creator, to no avail. I’m not really sure what to do as this was a huge hit to my self esteem, as i was also cheated on multiple times last year.

The Internet is full of people that are unhappy with themselves and try to make themselves feel better by talking shit about others. Their opinions do not matter.

Let’s get real, it’s Tiktok. Everyone is using a filter and focused on looking like one specific type of person. You aren’t ugly, they need to touch grass and stop putting people down because they’re also insecure.
I guarantee that in a few years all of the beauty standards will be the exact opposite and people will be upset they spent so much time trying to look like a different person. It’s already started and people are regretting getting banners that don’t look like their old teeth. It’s all peer pressure and marketing.
Look at how millennials in the US wanted to be willowy and thin emokids with skiing jeans and thin eyebrows, and then being slim thicc with big lips, boyfriend pants thick eyebrows and a sharp jaw line was cool. Its all fake so focus on being the best and healthiest version of yourself.
I think the best thing you can do is delete all social media apps on your phone for one month, then install them again if you really want to. But unplugging for a bit will significantly improve your self esteem.
Does TikTok remove hateful content? I honestly don’t know, hoping others do.
Get off social media. That’s not your real life. Hang out with your friends, people who treat you with the love and worth you deserve.
It’ll blow over. Get back online only after you’re feeling confident and emotionally stable again, enough so that you won’t be tempted to look yourself up and go back to seeing the stupid stuff some lonely jerks typed from their basements.

Set up a new social media account and make your first TikTok video introducing yourself as the person in the video but then totally switch the focus to your own interests. Grow your platform using engagement from haters and reach your goals.
