Do animals have celebrities? Like, do birds all recognize that one bird who sings really well?

r/

I know dominance exists in animal hierarchies, and so I’m curious if there’s something closer to fame or reputation based on skill or rizz in the animal kingdom?

    On smaller scales, they do.

The head make lion gets to bang all the females, no other males are allowed to. In addition, the women bring him food, and they all have to stand back and watch him eat before they get to eat.

I suppose you’ve somewhat answered your question

There’s a social hierarchy and an established ‘alpha’, whilst it is unlikely animals perceive dominant members of the pack or wider community as ‘celebrities’ as it’s quite an abstract concept – they do pay attention to one and other, and then do perceive un-/attractive traits in one and other.

Hence survival of the fittest – the peacock with the nicest feathers, biggest span, and dominant personality and physique will likely reproduce and survive

That’s hard to tell without any real way to measure animal communication

I actually love this question so much !

Where is an ornithologist when you need one, surely there is not many times in an ornithologists life when they get to shine bright ..

I have it on good authority that all the little birds on Jay Bird Street love to hear the rockin’ robin go tweet-tweet-tweet.

Some species of birds fight over mates through song and display and its up for the female to decide who is best to mate with. However it seems its a matter of opinion that we can’t ask of.

Me imagining birds in their nests with posters of “Celine DiParrot” and “Whitney Crow-ston” on their walls
