I am a clinical psychology doctoral student completing my dissertation, for which I had intended to post across different social media sites such as reddit, facebook, and quora. While facebook and quora have not been as bad, it is difficult to post on some of the reddit sites that are targeted for my topic as they preclude it and mark them as “spam or self promotion”. Has anyone run into this issue and how did you address it.
For reference, I am looking at thinking errors in early recovery from substance use.

I’ve recruited participants on Reddit before (from a different account). I would advise looking for other subreddits that allow surveys. If a subreddit seems like a really good place to post but you might not be allowed to post it there you might want to message the mods in advance. You can also try posting in subreddits relating to geographic areas you are targeting rather than your specific topic. In general you are going to have to post a lot of places to get a lot of responses. I eventually got a few hundred responses when I was recruiting via Reddit but I had to post a lot.
Also you have pretty low karma which could present issues.
