Can’t really help you. I don’t like every video game, but if a game hooks me it really hooks me. I have ADHD for many things, but if I like a game I can play it for hours. Part of that has to do with the story though. If the setting, characters or plot are interesting I will get super immersed.

Im the same exact way. I cant just play the same game for hours on end, it just doesnt work

    It’s one of these 3 reasons: or you are starting games that don’t match to what you’re looking for in a game;

or maybe your brain is used to short term entertainment so anything that takes longer, bores you (social media issues)

Or you’re just going through a phase videogames don’t fulfill you. I’ve been there when I felt a bit depressive. Then ONE videogame made me comeback to loving videogames. That game for me was Ghost of Tsushima.

Maybe you need to find that ONE game 😊

    As I get older, yes.

    When I was 14 to 21 or so, I could game 6, 8, 10 hours.

Even had 2 instances when I played for over 24 hours straight, not taking more than 10 minute breaks at a time to use the restroom or grab a snack.

I’m 28 now and haven’t been able to do more than 4 or 5 hours in years, but usually I’m bored after 2 or 3 hours regardless of the game

Seriously, I’ve always been this way. My partner games everyday for at least a few hours. He’s always playing a few different games. He can board game for literally an entire weekend. I play one or two rounds and I’m good. Like, Id be shitty if you made me play for more than 90m lol.

Try some games about building stuff

Yes. I actually turned my love for video games into designing. Now I get to scratch the itch but also feel productive. I think my brain after awhile just realized the reward from gaming was nothing.

Like, a few hours straight? Or a few hours of total gameplay?

I have to spend some time away from the game tbh. I’ve been playing Call of Duty for the majority of my life but each game will find me bored once I’ve played it long enough. Especially zombies.

That’s why I like Stellaris and Age of Wonders 4 – there’s always something new to try. And – whatever one may say about the price of the DLC, Paradox does a good job keeping their flagship games somewhat fresh – though there’s always a “same-y” and generic quality to these games.

If the character, story and setting doesn’t grab me in the first few hours I will quickly lose interest.

I literally just play baseball, and I’ll play GTA when t comes out with my friends.

I’d buy the new system/zelda. If i had the time to play it the way i want to, wandering for hours. Seeing if water/fire/this/that kills me, find the hidden items, read the guide…fuck why did all that aimless fun stop.

That’s why I have a bunch of games I cycle through because ADHD is a mf. Can’t get that sweet, sweet dopamine rush unless I’m adequately entertained

I like the idea of video games but I get bored within minutes when playing them. I was never very good at them and haven’t played regularly since the NES days. I’ve spent a lot of money to find that its just not for me.
