Is installing blinds/curtains something I can do myself? Or should I get a contractor for that?

I just don’t want to mess it up and ruin the house! I’m on a budget so would much prefer to DIY if it’s not horrendously difficult.

I think most can be DIY! Try “Dad How Do I” or other helpful Youtube channels.

It’s not hard. You’ll need a couple of basic tools (hammer, screw driver) and a step stool or sturdy chair. You may or may not need a level or tape measure. I always just used the same spot on the window molding when hanging blinds, assuming the window was installed straight.

You can actually fix or alter any part of your house that doesn’t require a permit.

Easy DIY. If it’s a rental you can use those self adhesive rod holders or a tension rod. If you can use a drill it’s that easy too. I’d look at how to videos for the window you have and I’m sure you’ll find something you can do easily.

It’s almost certainly something you can do, although it makes it easier to have another person there to help. It’s also a good way to learn some basic skills that you can use for other little house projects. Second the recommendation to look up YouTube tutorials. I wish that had existed back when I was moving into my first apartment!
