Best way to quit vaping/smoking?

r/

Been at it for 7 years. I’ve tried quitting multiple times but the cravings are a little much for me to handle. I can start to feel it effecting my throat (i cough a lot). I really need to quit and I suck at doing that apparently. Advice?

setting a quit date, understanding how much vaping is costing you, defining your triggers, and preparing ways to face nicotine withdrawal.

I hear you, quitting something like that can be incredibly tough, especially when the cravings hit hard. It’s definitely a challenge, but don’t be too hard on yourself… it’s a process, and slipping up doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

One thing to try is breaking the habit into smaller steps. Instead of focusing on quitting all at once, maybe reduce how often you smoke gradually. If you can, try to find substitutes, like chewing gum or using stress-relief techniques (breathing exercises, a quick walk). It can also help to avoid situations where you typically smoke until you’re stronger with it.

Also, have you considered talking to a healthcare professional or counselor? They can give you some tailored advice, and there are medications or therapies that could help manage the cravings.

Don’t give up. Small progress counts too, and you’ve got this. Just take it one step at a time.

They say that trying to quit nicotine is harder than someone addicted to meth. I feel your pain as I’m currently in the process of quitting after smoking for 6 years. Just the fact that you’re questioning it tells me that one day you’ll be smoke free. It’s all about timing. For me, I just reached a point where I was tired of waking up and feeling groggy, hated that I would have to escort myself out of gatherings in order to smoke, also, I hated all the money I spent on it. We spend money on something that’s actually hurting us!

I just want to say that recognizing the need to quit is such a brave step! It’s totally understandable that cravings can be tough to handle, especially after 7 years. Have you thought about trying a support group or talking to someone who’s been through it? Sometimes sharing your journey can really help. Also, consider exploring nicotine replacement therapies like patches or gum; they can ease those cravings a bit.

Cardio helped me the most, along with treating underlying problems that may exacerbate addictive tendencies

    Buy snus (nicotine pouches).

Velo, loop, zyn(popular in the us) any all-white tobacco free. The tobacco ones are less likely you’ll enjoy.

Loop are my favorites. You’ll stay addicted to nicotine but you won’t be harming your lungs.

Well. I would go from smoking to vaping and slowly taper off. Then I would switch to edibles until the need for all of it was just not necessary at all. Use a resensitizing method like they have on YouTube. That alone will help you kick the habit. When you resensitize you completely reset your system and make it a lot easier to just quit.

Going to places where you can’t, like Singapore.
