A friend is being scammed by deepfakes.

A family friend is being scammed by deepfakes. She has a special needs child and the perpetrator is using deepfake AI to get money out of her child’s social security. I am well aware that the videos are fake, but shes so delusional that she can’t see it for herself. I have a video she was sent and before I even watched it I knew what was going on.

I am at my wits end and am very close to calling Adult Protection Services so her special needs son isn’t having money stolen from him.

Is there any software, or someone who can point me in a direction to get more proof that I can send to her before going to extremes? (I can send someone the video if needed)

This has been going on for over a year and its starting to affect a lot of people. I am trying to keep the child safe and from potentially losing any more money.

Thanks in advance.

ETA: I said child, but this person is a low-functioning autistic. He’s 20 but cognitively he’s 8. Sorry for the miscommunication

I would call adult protective services today. The longer you wait the more money will be missing.

Your town should have a Social Services Department and your state should have a Department of Children and Families (or very similar departments). I would contact both for the sake of the child, sounds like your friend isn’t mentally fit enough to do the right thing(s). Best of luck!

I am trying to gather more proof before contact APS. I work in EMS and know these things require proof, but this is starting to affect a lot more people than just her family. Thanks everyone! Will try and update if I can.

Deepware AI, DeepFake-O-Meter, Resemble AI, etc. There’s a few out there that will detect deepfakes, though some will try to charge you.
