I’ve always been a picky eater (texture is a problem or I’m very sensitive to spice). This had been annoying but fine until recently. For the last couple of years I’ve struggled with red meat. I would force myself to eat it sometimes but the texture eventually became too much to deal with. In recent months I’ve developed an issue with chicken and now it’s just all meat. I’m just completely disgusted by it and I don’t know what to do. Any time I look into getting help people suggest just getting over it and it doesn’t work like that. I’m so frustrated. I recently went on vacation and struggled to find things to eat for every meal. I don’t want to be this way. I want to eat a variety of food but so much makes me feel sick because of the texture.
Has anyone dealt with anything similar and found a way through it?

Are you a picky eater, or are you becoming opposed to eating meat?
You’re definitely not alone in this—many people have similar experiences. Have you thought about exploring different cooking methods or trying softer textures? Sometimes, changing how food is prepared can make a big difference! Also, maybe looking into some alternative protein sources could help ease the pressure of eating meat right now. It’s great that you want to expand your food options!
It’s that I’m picky. I’ve always had problems with mushrooms, beans, yogurt, and so, so much more. Yogurt is the closest thing to my reaction toward meat. It’s like a gross lump of mush in my mouth.
You make me think of the lone star tick bite.
It usually causes allergies to meat, unsure if aversion is one of the symptoms.

You’re not being dramatic, your body’s saying “no” and you’re listening.
15 years ago the same thing happened to me, visceral reaction to meat. I stopped eating meat. 🤷🏻♀️
Issues with food texture sounds very autistic.
