Not everything needs to be a touch screen!

Not everything needs to be a touch screen. Your coffee pot does not need it, your door lock does not need it. Your car stereo does not need it. Buttons are fine they work well and amazingly are extremely cheap and easy to replace

I support touch screens if they are dynamic; but if they are just displaying values you could implement with buttons or knobs; I agree it’s overkill.

Touch screens are much cheaper to produce. They’re easier to test, easier to implement across different models, and even easier to replace. The more models a company offers, the more money they save by using a single software system instead of supporting hundreds of different configurations.

You’ve been sold a marketing illusion that makes touch screens seem like a premium feature. They’re not. They’re actually a cost-cutting measure.

Most appliances don’t need to be a touch screen, like what do you mean if the touch screen on my fridge doesn’t update the fridge don’t work, even when the screen doesn’t even do anything about temperature control.

And you can’t use your phone in the car, but making the control touch screen is okay, both are dangerous, heck touch screen control is even more dangerous, because in situations where you have keep your eyes on the roads for safety, or when you have to react fast for safety, you have to look a screen and touch it

Even worse are touch screens that aren’t responsive and take 5-8 business days to scroll or register a tap.

I’m looking at you, Qantas 737-800 inflight screens.

This is highly popular, and different manufacturers like Subaru have actually noticed and are adding tactile buttons back to their cars!

Touch screens are easier and cheaper to make, more expensive to sell and way more unreliable
