Failure or not

r/

Hi I’m M24 and I have no job, no bachelor degree and no real plan for my future, I’m scared that I’m still the same person the next year. I want to make something for myself but I have no motivation and discipline. Got any advice?

start with one tiny task each day instead of overhauling your life overnight. little wins build momentum and you’ll surprise yourself.

My own personal take is that no one can talk you into being motivated; we all have to find our own pathways there.

Random Dude number 1,020,239 sees a homeless man begging for change and makes up his mind that he’ll never be that guy. Random Dude 735,097,246 has a legit calling to be a doctor… But Random Dude 457 is content to be a pizza deliverer.

If you don’t have a reason, and you don’t have a calling all you have in front of you is a wait until you get one of the two… Shit man; I was in my 30s before I found mine.

You don’t need a plan, you do need a job. Ultimately bills cost money, and you need to be able to afford food and a roof over your head. Everything else can wait.

And no, it doesn’t have to be a career plan. Any job that pays enough for you to support yourself is a good enough start

If you let another year pass staring at screens and scrolling through other people’s wins. No one’s coming to save you, and the truth is, comfort is killing your future slowly. Go find your path and start for a waiting future!!

Same boat here. I just try and do what I can to help support my household. Simple things like doing the dishes goes a long way. Also try and look for something to do. Can be volunteering, joining a club, a hobby, or whatever else you can work on as a project. Just don’t escape into whatever you use to escape from reality, for me that’s video games and reading. They should wait until AFTER you’re done with whatever you’re doing.

Edit – also setting a timer for you to be productive helps. Doing the dishes may seem daunting, but doing the dishes for 10 minutes is less so.
