Hysterectomy- how did it improve your life?

r/

I posed a few days ago about endometrial ablation, but after speaking with my doctor, decided to get a hysterectomy instead. She said the ablation likely wouldn’t work for more than a couple years since I’m in my mid 30s, and that I’d end up having to do the hysterectomy anyways. Not going to have kids so no concern there.

I have always had severe periods and heaviness to the point that it ruins my life, for real, so I am suuuuuper excited to get this surgery. She said I will most likely be able to keep my ovaries which I had been concerned about changes to my hormones if I wasn’t able to.

So tell me ladies, how did your lives improve with a hysterectomy? Did your sex lives improve? And for anyone who has gone through menopause, was that different/better than other women?
