Life is so boring. Does anything actually get better with age?

r/

I am 28M and I am wondering daily what the point is in even going over 30. I am not depressed or anything, but I have been thinking lately about how when you were a teen, you were looking forward to so many things in life, and that itself made you happy. And when you grow up, you realize how pointless it all is. I am having it pretty good in life if I look at things logically, and I am grateful for it. I have a job I like and it pays very well, I have great friends and family, and my own apartment that is already paid off, and I have no debt. And yet what do I have to look forward to? Death? Heartbreak? Your body falling apart? Some might say travelling. Ok, some travelling is goo,d but what do you have on this planet that’s so interesting? Same forests, same seas, same landscapes, same people, just slightly different. The only thing I have left to do is find a decent woman and have kids, but I am not even excited about it, I just see it as another life box to check. I reader a lot of stuff about how life for men starts at 30, but I just don’t see how. So, tell me guys, did things actually get more exciting, or is it the same stuff until you die?

No – unfortunately it doesn’t for many. You just learn to make good use of the ‘boredom’ and use it effectively… 😃

It’s only the same stuff if you don’t learn anything new.

The phrase you’re looking for is “self improvement”; Or are you perfect?

Sounds like you need to skydive or climb Kilimanjaro or join the army or drop some acid or something. Shake things up.

Sounds like you are experiencing anhedonia. I struggle with this often myself and it takes a lot of work to reframe. I hope this was helpful

Sounds like you need to experience more things in your life. Go to concerts, museums, experience different foods and cultures and marvel at how awesome this world and its people are. I could go on and on, there’s so much creativity and love in this world it’s amazing, get out and experience it

Do you have any hobbies or goals? You need to be able to set goals for yourself, find your passions, and pursue them. You can do anything you want in life, so try new things and find what you love.

Once you are able to be happy with yourself everything else will be much easier to acheive.

40+ here, feels like I’m getting more lonely due to people getting married/becoming parents. Noticed it some years ago while scrolling my friends list on Steam, Battle.net etc and seeing how long ago some people last logged in.
Plus, being a homebody it’s not like people have time to come over to hang out anymore… so, I’m just doing my hobbies in my loneliness I guess
