What’s a small decision you made that ended up changing your entire life?

r/

For me, choosing to study collage in my home country, was very wise decision in the long run, because it opened up opportunities for new training programs leading to more recruiting choices , while easily managing other life expenses without any big change

Not a single small decision but lots of “don’t do stupid stuff” decisions.

Don’t do drugs. Graduate from high school. Don’t commit felonies. Don’t get a girl pregnant before I get married.

These hundreds of small decisions have led to a happy and comfortable life.

I trusted a random Marine after I had a bad breakup. Cried about my bad home life, my SA incident, how crappy my health is, I bared it all.

5 years later, I’m out of that abusive home life, married to that Marine, 37 weeks pregnant, spoiled like a pampered housecat, and he’s the most patient and loving person I’ve ever met. He’s gonna be a fantastic dad, and I’m so excited to meet our daughter together.

I did something straight out of a movie.

Packed my bags and moved several states away across the country to a place I’ve never visited and didn’t know a single person. Kinda threw a dart at a map and went

Wasn’t married and no kids, Figured if it didn’t work out I could move back.

10 years later I’m still here, married with kids.

Really exciting time, would do it all over again.

Was supposed to go to a friends wedding, but my +1 backed out last minute. So I ended up not going to the wedding. I was feeling bummed, so a buddy of mine picked me up and brought be to his house. He was having a party with his friends. It was a good time, I met new people, including my wife of over 32 years. I ended up leaving the party telling my roommate that I’ve just met my future wife…

This one time I almost didn’t call an ambulance. I thought I was over reacting. I got a helicopter ride and saved my own life making that call.

I looked him in the eyes.

I have a fear of men due to my mom’s pedo ex husband of over a decade. My entire life I’ve always struggled with eye contact in general but it’s particularly bad with men.

The boy I had a crush on in senior year of high school ran up to my car and told me I was attractive. Usually I’d just keep my head down and give a quiet “thank you” and never even go near them again but this time I looked him in the eyes, smiled and thanked him. Moved in with him and his family a few months after and we’ve been together ever since!

I was out of work and had hit the top age wise in my industry. I was 45 and was interviewing with 25 yr olds. One day I decided to shotgun a bunch of resumes and sent out 10 in response to ads. One led to a major career change and a job that lasted 12 years and paid better than I’d ever been paid in my life.

I got laid off eventually so returns to reaching out to various people I knew, not to hit them up for a job but just to check in. One of those people hired me and I’ve got a new great job.

Choosing to become friends with the most unpopular girl in middle school. Turned my life to a long detour of bad decisions, bad company, and years to find my way to my true purpose. As much as I love the “underdog” picking the high ground and avoiding “losers” is a lesson I don’t want to learn again.

Talking to another parent at my sons back to school night. I mentioned my divorce and it turned out, he thought I was married. We went on our first date the following month and got married two years later.

One day, 12 years of age, I went on a chat roulette website and met who is now my husband. Sounds insanely untrue and unsafe (because it is unsafe), but we got lucky. And before you get your panties in a twist, he’s just a year older than me and our relationship is incredibly healthy and fulfilling.
