Had to type something out to just get it off my chest (go figure). Obviously “Fuck Nazis” isn’t a brave or controversial thing to say but I had a situation today that really left me angry.
I was at Walmart with my wife and sister in law. I see a guy walking around the aisles and something about him just kind of put me off to start with. So while they look at some clothes I walk a couple aisles over and see him on the phone.
An actual, in the flesh, SS on one side of his head, Swatika on the other, Skin Head. My blood boiled. I have thought I hated people before but I’ve never felt this much anger for someone just from seeing them. I spent the rest of the trip hyper aware of where he was, absolutely fuming.
It made me mad that I have things to live for and that “he was a nazi” isn’t a valid legal defense.

This is what they want. The fact he has such things tattooed on him shows that he wants you to be angry. He wants this exact reaction. He knows full well what emotions such symbols will rightfully spark in people given what they represent.
The best way to counteract these kinds of people isn’t with violence, which is what we naturally feel we’d like to do, but continue to spread love and acceptance for those that these people wish to hate upon.
I’m really sorry you had this experience. It’s awful to feel so powerless against such hatred, but remember, their ignorance is on them, not you.

I’m a POC and I’ve seen Nazis before too. I just ignore them. Idk what’s there for you to get so pressed over ngl. There’s hateful people everywhere and if you could see them all and got worked up over each one, you would die of consecutive heart attacks. Don’t take it so personally unless they go out of their way to hurt you.
The way you feel about them is the same way the felt about the youknowwhos, that mentality of degrading someone to inhuman is the same as the nazi mentality, you need to be better then that and nit stoop to that level.

There’s a more peaceful way to go about this, talking and seeing perspectives then guide them to see their views are wrong, change the person is better

Honestly makes me think of some of the military fighting against the Nazis during WWII If they saw that on US soil they’d beat the shit out of them, drag em out in the street and shoot them. People in general back then looked at German Americans funny and if they found out many would start brawls with them for just being German. My relatives knew a guy who was German American who joined the US military because he was so mad that Germany became what it was. Because his blood was boiling so much the US left him state side. But he was eager, and ready to go to make his stance. He was mad as all hell and felt betrayed by his own people.
So I think about that and if he saw that he would’ve ripped his head off, no doubt.

If you believe this person supports such ideas out of free will or because he is autonomous individual – then fuck yeah – real asshole.
But he could have been molested or he could have grown up with abusive parents.

I don’t say it is normal. I say that it is obviously destructive but I assume you live in a country that allows everybody to express their ideas freely without the government taking him accountable for it. If he commits atrocities against society – you know the usual drill.
