I Just Kissed My Best Friend and I Don’t Know What To Do

r/

I (23M) just kissed my best friend (26F), let’s call her Hailey, and I’m confused about what to do next.

We’ve been close since 2020, but over the past couple of years, things started to feel more than just friendship. We hug often, hold hands, talk 24/7 (she usually texts first), and she’s even introduced me to family. Lately, she runs up and jumps into my arms like we’re a couple.

Three weeks ago, while I was putting away produce at work, she walked over, held my hand, and we started chatting. I looked at her, she looked back and I kissed her. She kissed me back. Our manager saw and whistled, which broke the tension. We laughed it off, but… we haven’t talked about it since.

Things between us feel normal on the surface, but there’s something different now. I don’t know if I should bring it up or leave it alone. I don’t want to lose what we have, but I think I’m falling for her.

Has anyone been through something like this? What should I do?

Edit 1: I forgot to mention that we kiss privately after finding out that a lot of people assume we’re dating because we kiss.

TL;DR: I (23M) kissed my best friend (26F) after years of hugging, holding hands, constant texting, and affectionate behavior. She kissed me back, but we haven’t talked about it since. Now I’m confused about what it means and whether to bring it up or let it go. Not sure if I’m falling for her or risking our friendship.

Original text: I, 23M, just kissed my best friend, 26F, which we’ll call her Hailey. Me and Hailey have been friends since 2020. Two years ago, things escalated to hugging and eventually holding hands. We always talk, 24/7, and she would always text me first, asking me how I’m doing and saying hi to me. More recently, she’s been running up to me and leaping into my arms like we’re a couple. At the same time, she introduced me to her uncle. And about three weeks ago, while I was on the floor putting away fruits and vegetables, she saw me, ran up to me, and held my hand. While chatting, I stopped, locked eyes with her, and went in for a kiss. My manager was nearby and gave a wolf whistle.
