It’s mostly in regards to applying for government assistance and college aid in the US than anything. It really seems that if not just you, but your parents come from well below the poverty line it really seems your given everything to achieve a career with livable wage and benefits.
Now say if you’re parents make just above the threshold the government will be less likely to aid you as well as any kind of assistance programs as well. This can still be the case even if your parents have racked up a large sum of debt and/or just refuse to help you out anyway financially.
It just seems like a lot kids in poverty got a lot assistance and are now greatly independent with trade skill/nursing jobs while me and a couple of my friends wasted most of our early 20’s on wagie jobs because we came from slightly above poverty. Not angry with the really poor kids but it really seems we need to widen who really needs assistance

What assistance do you think you need to learn a trade?
Then why do people often stay in the same class as their parents?
Honestly I agree, and had a similar experience to yourself in the UK. Just above the assitance threshold.
How can you be in poverty and be middle class at the same time?
Agreed. Very popular belief but a very unpopular opinion for the rich indubitably. 🧐
“ It really seems that if not just you, but your parents come from well below the poverty line it really seems your given everything to achieve a career with livable wage and benefits.”
What makes you think this?
I think this in respect to financial aid for higher ed. Colleges do give more $ to people with less income, more Pell grants- not just loans. But that doesn’t mean the money doesn’t exist for dependents with parents with a higher income. Community colleges typically offer apprentice programs and classes for classical trades, as well as CRN classes to get you started while you work on your BSN later.
I didn’t get government assistance or financial aid in college. I just took out loans, got my degree and am paying it back. It is still very possible.
