As the title says.
Pam is a cheater and Jim is a straight up bully. The episode where Dwight tortured Jim with snowballs was honestly so satisfying to watch. Jim deserved every hit. It seems unfair in that episode alone, but if you account every snowball for every time Jim “pranked” Dwight, Dwight is technically still behind compared to all the fucked up things Jim did to him. Frankly, Pam deserved some shit too for going along with Jims pranks, but at least she had a sort of redemption arc.
Generally, the story between Jim and Pam is the least interesting one to follow, especially in the later seasons. You just know what’s going to happen between them from the very first episode. Yet another predictable and boring love story, which everyone seems to be cheering for, for some reason. Why even cheer when you know exactly what’s going to happen?
Jim and Pam certainly deserve each other, and frankly, I feel sorry for their kids.
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that Jim and Pam are supposed to be the “normal” ones in an office full of chaos. Um, no. It’s absolutely not “normal” to pull “pranks” the way Jim does. If anyone’s a “normal” character in the show, frankly, it’s Phyllis, Oscar and Toby. Jim and Pam are the drama factor.

Truly unpopular.
false
I’d respond to you but my phone is in the vending machine
Andy is the best character after MS.
I love the office, I don’t hate them and I’m glad they are here because of the dynamics they create, but they are indeed the most annoying and boring characters in the Office
Them and Mindy
All of the office is boring not just those two
Post from 2016
Thought Pam was boring but not jim.
Their relationship was boring though. Very stereotypical
This is a common opinion, however, it is annoying how in the early seasons the show makes you root for them while they’re pissing away their lives and would be boring and unlikable irl
Related unpopular opinion – John Krasinski is a shit actor and coasted on legendary comedic performances by his co-stars.
Dwight is annoying as all hell. After the one episode where he stole a huge client from Jim he deserved what he got.
Are the scenes where Pam cheats in the room with us right now, OP?
Love story between Pam and Jim aren’t stereotypical. Jim actively bully Dwight for seducing Pam, everytime he bullies Dwight he make sure Pam acknowledge it.
It’s what make this relationship interesting, a relationship build on stepping a third person.
I don’t understand how people think he was a bully to Dwight. He was a horrible kiss-ass who tried to get everyone fired any chance he could. Stole Jim’s top client, was extremely rude and condescending to everyone in the office and ACTUALLY thought he was better and smarter than everyone else. Does everyone just forget he abandoned Phyllis in the middle of nowhere without her purse? Shot Stanley with bull tranquilizer? Tried to get Michael fired or demoted with Jan? Cheated with Angela on her husband. (Obviously this is my favorite show).
Don’t get me wrong though, as a fictional show, I love everything about Dwight and Jim, etc, but thinking of him as a coworker, I’d want to prank him too.
phyllis is the worst person on the show.
edit:not marideth
There are a few good videos on YouTube detailing why Jim actually sucks – here’s one.
Is this unpopular? I think it’s just misplaced.
Think of it this way, remove Jim and Pam from the Office. What’s left? It becomes the Muppet Show and strains credulity. You need the “normalcy” of Jim and Pam to ground the show, and be the viewer’s proxy.
Everyone is horrible in that tv show. Pam willingly participates in the pranking of Dwight. Dwight is straight up a sociopath and deserves everything handed to him. Angela is a bitch. Kelly is a vapid airhead. Ryan is a vapid asshole. Oscar is a holier than thou know it all. Stanley is a money grubbing cheater.
At least Jim makes the pranking funny and elaborate. I wouldn’t say he’s the most boring compared to, let’s say Stanley.
The only one that deserves a happy ending is Kevin. The only nice guy.
edit : Oscar instead of José and kelly instead of mindy. sorry, brain fart.
Starting in season 4, yeah
Well, yeah they were meant to be boring because they are the only ‘normal’ characters in the show and the whole premise of the show is ‘boring’.
But I get where you’re coming from and actually respect this unpopular opinion because there definitely is truth to it.
Every character except Creed was boring, that was the whole point of the show
I liked Karen way more over Pam, lmao.
Considering I have seen this opinion about 1000 times, i’m not sure it’s unpopular
This thread is backfiring on OP. Stupid take
The office needed Jim and Pam, the same way that Costello needed Abbott. They are an audience substitute, letting the viewer know how weird all the antics going on are. Yes they are boring, that’s why they teamed Jim up with Dwight or Andy, and Pam up with Michael whenever they left the office for any reason, so they could react like a ‘regular person’ and deliver one liners.
I don’t agree with that in the workplace
Pam and Jim are meant to be the “normals” in a room full of weird/comedic stereotypes. That’s part of the comedy and charm. The whole point of the Office is that its a normal boring and typical work environment with funny situations (like many sitcoms). And in particular, only Pam and Jim are meant to have a “typical” personalities- everyone else has a major major quirk about them.
Horrible take. Do better OP.
Like any show, over time people’s perception of characters change. At the time the office aired, the Jim and Pam relationship and style of The Office was a breath of fresh air from all of the other formulaic sitcoms on TV.
Watching now, yes Jim and Pam are awful.
Their story resonates with so many people because so many people are as boring and stuck in similar situations. It’s nice to see a win like that.
If we’re going to be this critical
of characters, Dwight is borderline evil and deserves every ounce of “bullying” he got from Jim. If anyone in that office deserves it, it’s him.
It’s funny how only Jim and Pam are held to this weird standard.
“Pam is a cheater” is a WILD way to explain her relationship with Roy. He was an asshole, and deserved to be left. When did she ever actually cheat? Jim kissed her???
This opinion is so not unpopular that it makes up approximately 1/8 of the internet
I find Pam really pretty yet so boring and plain to look at. It’s a real testament to how good of a job the wardrobe and makeup teams did on the show.
“He wrote smugly, 12 years after the show had ended, an opinion so powerful he thought it unnecessary to check if anyone had thought of it before.”
I think they’re an integral part of the show’s appeal, the normal protagonists that are forced into random and weird situations.
And Jim, boring? Really?
Jim is a bit of a bully, but Dwight is an asshole who would run the office like a tyrant if he came into power. If Jim chose Kevin or Stanley as his prank victims, he would be a lot less sympathetic.
Sorry, we’re not accepting these opinions at this time. We are fully stocked up in that department. Please try again later.

I feel they hinted that they were a boring couple when they literally couldn’t think of something that the other didn’t already know.
I thought they purposely made them the boring vanilla couple. Like you know they go home to have a bland spaghetti dinner and talk about their day like they both weren’t there.
Pam and Jim were doomed from the start, Jim trying to romance an engaged woman, Pam for even entertaining the idea of infidelity. They’re both shitty but Jim is not boring. Also doesn’t Pam start doing the same thing to Jim with the boom guy? Michael and Holly are the better couple, Michael alone is kind of an ignorant creep sometimes though.
Yeah I hate Jim.
The Office is an annoying and boring show
Jim and Pam being normal and predictable was the whole point of how they were written. They’re used to provide contrast with the chaos of the rest of the cast.
I hated them both. So smug and passive agressive.
Jim and Pam were great until they got together then I just lost interest in them.
…And people still say the US version of The Office is better than the original UK version. 😂
Not an unpopular opinion but I agree with everything you said
I mostly agree about Jim, but i wouldn’t full-on call Pam a “cheater”. Pam was unexpectedly kissed by Jim, she didnt go up to him to do that. Also, Roy’s such a douche that he fully earned his fiancé leaving him for another dude.
Also, I’d add Stanley to the list of “normal people”.
That’s the point. We are supposed to experience it this way. They heighten the crazy by comparison like the hot girl who needs ugly friends at the bar.
This has got to be one of the stranger self reports
People who try to defend Dwight are so funny. Like when Dwight tries to get Jim fired and actively sabotages his job, that’s just fine but when Jim responds in kind, he’s the worst human imaginable. Also yeah, they could’ve handled the romance better imo. I’m not a fan of having them first kiss when Pam was still with Roy.
All that said, this is isn’t really an unpopular opinion. It’s an invalid one because it is actively and obviously biased.
On my numerous re watches back in the day I would almost always skip past all their relationship crap. Wasn’t funny !
Dang. That sucks
I never paid attention to them, I just liked the comedy and I didn’t find their relationship funny
The answer is: parks n rec is a better show
Jim and Pam are the most boring people in the show for sure.
Try icing it. Lol – Dwight
There’s a really weird phenomenon with critically acclaimed shows where, after being off the air for about ten years, there no longer remains any new takes so people just start turning on characters to have a unique viewpoint
I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume OP has gone through a break up recently.
Phyllis is unabashedly a FREAK and that’s fuggin’ canon
Counterpoint, every character in the office is equally annoying and boring.
