Powdered donuts (and powder sugar based foods) suck.

r/

I just really don’t like them or see how people like them. They don’t really have an appealing taste or taste like sugar at all, they also have a horrible texture. It’s powdery, but then when it gets in your mouth it becomes this like wet mush that sticks a bit and tastes horrible. It also has such a horrid aftertaste.

The sort of sour aftertaste of powdered sugar is a delight to me and many others

It is totally valid to not like a food.

That doesn’t mean the food sucks (objectively bad). It just means you don’t like it (subjectively bad).

Powdered donuts are for professions with dirty hands like
Mechanics / machinists, the powder sticks to the grease on your hands and keeps it off the donut, and you don’t eat the gross shit you’ve been working on, then you wipe the powder on a shop rag and move on.

My favorite is powdered cinamon and sugar with apple jelly filling

Powdered donut fights were the highlight of my career as a young firefighter. They are amazingly fun to hurl at your opponents. Especially if they don’t expect it.

The texture is something I love about powdered doughnuts. But I’ve never had them go full wet mush like you’re talking about, always more like an edible playdough kinda texture.

If it’s overdone, it’s pretty unpleasant

When I was a teen, my family stopped at a Tim Hortons to get some refreshments while we were on a roadtrip, and i chose to get assorted Timbits. I opened it up and saw that I was lucky and got some powdered jelly filled Timbits.

And then I had a bite

The sugar layer was like 1cm thick. It felt like I was biting into soft chalk. I had to scrape the sugar off to be able to eat any more of them, and by the time I was done there was a layer of powdered sugar coating the entire bottom of the box.

When it’s used sparingly, I’d say powdered sugar doughnuts are pretty nice. All they need is a light sprinkling.

The sugar melting on your tongue when eating a powdered doughnut 🤤

I think with the powder combining with the donut it makes it really yummy

It all depends on the quality of whatever is dusted with the powdered sugar.

Every fiber of my New Orleans being is mad at this post for one reason: beignets

  22. Apprehensive_Pin3536 Avatar

They’re better for dipping in coffee. Sugar sweetens the coffee while also absorbing delicious coffee

  23. Silver-Firefighter35 Avatar

Fresh beignets can be very good.

    Have you tried a beignet?
