Stuffed crust is the only exception. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the crust, in fact I do myself. However, if eating the bread at the end is more enjoyable for you than the actual pizza, why are you buying the pizza? Why not find breadsticks, or cheesy bread? Again, stuffed crust I can see because it resembles the actual pizza because the cheese. But there’s no way people buy an entire pizza for the crust.

I eat the point of the pizza first and work my way to the crust and eat the crust last
Nobody thinks the crust is the part that tastes the best. But to many of us, the crust the foundation on which the flavors and textures of the pizza rely. To us, without a great crust, the pizza isn’t very good. You can put the best ingredients there are on a crappy crust and the pizza will be crappy. Thus… the crust is the best part of the pizza, even if it’s not a food we’d eat if it wasn’t part of the pizza.
I used to not like cheese that much. My parents would feed me the crust and I’d love it!
I don’t think a crust is the best part, but its typically what separates a good pizza from a great pizza. It also stands out as the thing that can let an otherwise decent pizza down e.g., I think a pizza can get away with an average tomato sauce or insufficient cheese, but a soggy crust just brings the whole experience down.
This is the weirdest case of gatekeeping I’ve read in a while.

If you’re talking about traditional Neapolitan pizza, the crust is unironically the best part.
Your unpopular opinion sucks. I genuinely look forward to getting to the crust when I eat pizza, I don’t get pizza just for the crust. On certain types of pizza the crust is my favorite part, that doesn’t mean I don’t also like the rest of it. I also really like breadsticks but they are very different than the pizza crust
The crust isnt just the bread at the end lol, its what the sauce and cheese sits on too. I do think sauce is the most important part and biggest distinction between mid or great pizza. But crust is still very important.
I always assume when people say this, they mean the crust underneath the sauce, cheese, and toppings; not the crunchy crust around the outside. Like they mean of the 4 elements of a pizza, that is most important to them because sauce is sauce, cheese is cheese, and toppings are toppings. Maybe it differentiates a great pizza from a bad one. I don’t know

You’re not eating the right crust. In fact you are eating the crust it’s just topped with cheese and sauce. Plane crust yeah that’s not good but stuffed crust with little garlic sauce or marinara sauce is practically the same thing as the rest of the pizza.

Because I love pizza, but I am, first and foremost, a slut for bread. The sauce and cheese are the date, and the crust is what comes after the date.

Eat the crust along side the last part of the pizza that has the cheese and sauce
Crust can be, and often is, delicious if it’s got a good amount of garlic salt and butter, yum.
I don’t know that people do buy an entire pizza just for the crust…but, I know that I always eat my crust because if I made it that far I may as well.

There’s no reason to assume thinking the best part of a pizza is the crust means someone is buying pizza just for the crust.
Also, bread sticks and cheesy bread aren’t line pizza crust. They are not interchangeable in terms of taste or texture. Even if someone WAS getting a pizza for the crust, those aren’t even close to being good alternatives.
The only arguably better part of the “crust” is just the final bite that’s like 50% pizza 50% crust, with that little dolop of oven cooked sauce poking out
Id say thats the best part of the pizza, because you get the best of both worlds, but in general you’re right that the straight crust itself isn’t better
