Last night, my boyfriend stayed over at my place. We had plans to finally go to the theme park together the next day—something I’d been asking for and looking forward to for a long time. While he was in the shower, I unlocked his phone (a story for another time), and what I saw broke me.
There were intimate pictures and videos from a woman he told me was his “ex-now just a friend”—the same woman who’d been calling him constantly. The one he swore was out of the picture. I quickly took her profile details, locked his phone, and pretended nothing happened.
The whole day at the theme park, I felt numb. He even had the audacity to yell at me about something minor, while I was holding back from exploding with what I knew.
Later, I messaged her. I told her to delete those pictures because he was two-timing us, and I wanted to confront him without warning. That’s when she dropped the real bomb:
They’ve been engaged for an entire year.
The whole time I thought he was my boyfriend—he was also her fiancé.
I don’t even know what to feel. I gave this man everything—loyalty, effort, patience. I ignored red flags. I kept choosing him. And he was living a double life.
I’m posting this to say: thank you to all the people who warned me about the signs I ignored. You were right.
I just wish I had listened sooner.

Ouch. But 100% you did the right thing by acting immediately and talking to her.
