People who are easily triggered shouldn’t be online

r/

Online is a hellscape of trolls and shitposts and monsters just looking to ruin your day for fun. Anyone who has triggers that cause you extreme mental anguish to think about should probably avoid it.

Having triggers isn’t bad. Thinking the internet won’t destroy you for fun b/c of them is.

If you don’t want to talk to people who are easily triggered online, why are you on reddit? People are so easily triggered here.

There are tons of online spaces where this isn’t true.

Most of the people here didn’t live through the unmoderated unhinged wild West days of aol chat rooms.

Also, those allergic to pollen shouldn’t breathe.

People nowadays are so sensitive and so easily triggered. It’s so easy to block someone who is annoying you, but they continue to feed onto those who are trolling or people who are obviously ragebaiting.

My god. I saw someone suggest that an OP using a razor to make a pattern on bread dough should have used a trigger warning. ITS FUCKING BREAD.

Im with you on that one, but personally they’re allowed to get triggered but fuck the mods who got their nerves fingered and delete posts/comments they don’t like

People are more likely to be triggered offline than online honestly. Online people can often get an idea a trigger might present itself whereas online it can spring out of nowhere.

Honestly depends on what your trigger is, how severe it is, and what online space you’re considering getting into.

For example I have it relatively easy. The kind of graphic material that would seriously trigger me is more likely to be seen in a courtroom than on reddit, and the results of me getting triggered are not physically dangerous.

Somebody who is triggered in dangerous ways by a more common form of media (such as an ED survivor who could be triggered to relapse by weight-loss content) could have a much harder time. They might still be able to find some online spaces that work for them (tumblr has a great tag-blocking system) but it would definitely be a significant risk.

You can also decide not to disclose your triggers to the public. There’s no need to go around telling everybody how to hurt you.

It’s to do with how individualist the world has become. People expect society to change for them rather than changing themselves.
