I’m sorry, but when I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that my favorite character just died, the last thing that I want to see is some unfunny ass scene, especially when a character is being sincere. Its not funny, it’s annoying. If you like it and enjoy the comedic relief, then that’s good for you, no offense. I, for one, don’t like it one bit. It seems forced and out of place, and it makes me want to slap a character and tell them to read the damn room.

The Marvel effect
Fuck movies if you were sent to actual war you would go insane without a sense of humor. Not being able to laugh at a movie though ???????
I think this goes along with the trope of a character saying “well THAT just happened” or some variation after something important happens in the story. It’s like writers are afraid to let people stew with their feelings on a scene for more than a second.
Yeah I’m not a fan of comic relief when it’s used as literal relief. Like a funny character I’ve got no problem with. Love a good funny character. But when there’s a serious scene and they come in with “woooah LoOk OuT zAnY OnELinEr GoOFbAlL TiMe” it just falls so so flat for me.
