I get the point of the film is that Justin Long was physically mentally and emotionally tortured by a deranged psycho to be a walrus and that at the end, he was in a suit and just left to rot in a shitty zoo as he was ‘too far gone.’
Even with his tongue cut out and his legs being cut off etc and he was sewn into a walrus suit but it wouldn’t exactly be impossible for him to turn back to who he was. Intensive therapy exists and he could have been easily taken out of the suit and had corrective surgery done. Like the fact even at the end he cried out for his friends shows he was still there and jsut leaving him there was a horrible thing to do as they didn’t even try.

think of it as an allegory of complacency and how people in bad situations choose to remain rather than fix themselves.
thats probably not the meaning and there doesnt always have to be a meaning behind indy cult movies but thats my take on it.
Every day I find out about movies that I did not know existed…
In hated the ending it. Make me really sad I. Cried
I was so angry that I watched the entire movie that I didn’t even stop to think what the meaning may have possibly been.
I just watched this yesterday. I figured he would have drowned himself…I would have!
i mean obviously leaving him like that at a wildlife sanctuary was not reasonable but it was hilarious. what a wild movie.
bro it’s a comedy
i liked the ending because it managed to hit me like a sledgehammer DESPITE having just watched the rest of tusk.
they went in for a double-dip, and I for one thought it worked out
Adding onto this, at the end of Human Centipede she can totally cut herself free with a glass shard, get some dentures and surgery, lots of therapy, and maybe write a best selling tell-all book and hit the talk circuit as a motivational speaker.
People always said Rumours was so much better
Would that have made a better movie?
Imagine if you compressed the universe into a tube. You wouldn’t want to do that, but the universe would then be like, two tubes long. Think about that and imagine it again.
You’re welcome.
It’s a horror comedy, the ending is stupid on purpose
Anybody who doesn’t get it didn’t watch it all the way through the credits, where they play the podcast segment that the story was born in. It’s just Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier cracking up at how completely moronic it was, and then they discuss a silly idea of turning this idiocy into a movie, and let the listeners vote. TUSKYES or TUSKNO. Guess who won.
The movie is 100% trash without it sitting through the credits. WITH it, it’s 100% gold!
In the credits, the oidcast plays over a list of everyone who voted #TUSKYESto hold them accountable 🤣
I am certainly glad you don’t make any movies lol
Yeah I thought they’d help him instead of feeding him fishes and making out in front of him. Goes to show how friends are
I dont think you do get the point of the film.
You are reading too far into it. Smith just wanted to make a fucked up movie based on his podcast where he was spitballing stupid ideas. He even allowed his fans to vote on whether he should make it.
At its core I think smith intended it as a comedy, he was sure laughing it up while coming up with the idea.
I thought the exact same thing as the OP. He’s in a SUIT, why couldn’t they get him out? Plus, that suit is made of human skin, why did it not rot away? What kind of preservatives did Temu Buffalo Bill use to keep it from decaying?
Some surgery, extensive therapy, maybe even some medication, there’s no reason he couldn’t go back to SOMETHING resembling a nor.al life. I feel like the decrepit zoo ending was just there for shock value.
I think you might be missing the intention of dark comedy as a concept.
oh god I had forgotten about tusk why did my algorithm do this to me, I dont wanna remember that bruh
If we apply some sort of realism to this movie the most humane thing to do would’ve just been to kill him upon finding him in that state instead of keeping him in a zoo.
Sure there could’ve been a chance of returning him to normal through extensive therapy and surgery but I’m not sure it would all be worth it.
They should’ve upon finding him in that state humanely put him down and put him out of that torturous situation.
How much of his actual body even still existed though. They can give you prosthetic limbs but they can’t just make an entirely new body for you.
Imagine a Tusk 2 where he escapes the wildlife enclosure and waddles into a hospital or something lol “umm can u guys make me a human again”
If it had ended that way, we probably wouldn’t be here talking about it.
That wasn’t a walrus suit he was sewn into. That was his body. The crazy guy totally ripped him apart and put him back together in the form of a walrus. There is no coming back from that.
Not killing him with his walrus penis was the most egregious misstep in the script.
I originally saw this during my pick a random ass 11pm movie on a Tuesday phase. All I had seen was the cardboard ad in the theater with a Walrus beneath the moon. Assumed it was a walrus documentary.
It was not. Loved it.
Kid it’s not kind of movie
